    District Information:

    Hanover is a small rural district with less than 300 students. We have small class sizes with 20-28 students per grade. The community is small and in two main demographic locations: Midway Ranches which is west of I-25 on exit 119, and the Hanover area which is east of I-25 from exit 122.

    Qualifications/Job Description:

    Position Overview

    The position of Director of Business Services and Human Resources involves the collection and management of finances, monthly staff payroll, personnel benefits and employee personnel files. This person works directly with school secretaries, principals, athletic director, and sponsors to insure the handling of cash receipts. The manager will generate financial reports for the Superintendent and Board of Education on at least a monthly basis.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Manages accounting plans and procedures to include chart of accounts for District’s fund accounting
    • Coordinates the development of Comprehensive Annual Financial Reports (CAFR), including audit work paper preparation
    • Assist with time sheets, POs, and other business items(collection of breakfast/lunch funds)
    • Responsible for the District’s cash management programs, including investments of District’s funds in accordance with Board policy and state statutes
    • Creates interim financial reports on a monthly & quarterly basis for submission to the Board of Education & other stakeholders
    • Oversees the District Financial Transparency website in accordance with State statutes
    • Reports unusual variances and notes exceptional trends
    • Prepares reconciliation of financial accounts as needed
    • Prepares and submits financial and human resource reports to CDE through existing programs used to receive data
    • Responsible for the District’s financial records retention to include the system for efficient assimilation, reproduction and retention
    • Reconciles the District’s cash accounts, including balancing, reporting and administration
    • Prepare and then take bank deposits to the bank
    • Translates HR personnel actions and employee requests into benefit change forms for payroll and accounting to ensure accurate paychecks and proper claims handling by the plans administrators
    • Determines what changes are required for each class of employee in order to accomplish their needs
    • Provides counseling and assistance to employees to ensure effective use of the plan for the employee and the District
    • Translate complex benefit language and issues into understandable language for employees
    • Must maintain excellent customer service
    • Creates and maintains benefit files, records, and computer databases
    • Audits databases to ensure accuracy and conformity to payroll, human resources, and plan administrators (i.e. United Health Care, Delta Dental)
    • Understanding of school website and ability to update

    Requirements

    • Degree in Accounting or Business Management, preferred
    • Experience in Accounting or Business Management may be substituted
    • Bookkeeping / HR experience, preferably in a school environment
    • Computer experience with knowledge of MS Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook)
    • Experience with accounting software, preferred
    • Strong organizational skills/ability to multi-task
