Our Operations function oversees the day-to-day functions of our managed hotel portfolio, ensuring that our guests receive an exceptional hospitality experience and that we remain a leader in the hospitality industry.

What will I be doing?

The Director Beverage will follow the direction and vision of the SVP Food and Beverage Americas. You will lead and execute all promotional, marketing, and training activities relating to Hilton’s outsourced Beverage Fund, led by IMI Marketing Agency. In this role, the incumbent will lead all aspects of a multimillion-dollar budget and be the main point of contact for our beverage vendors. In addition, you will direct and deliver all necessary training to bartenders, servers, etc. across the Americas Managed portfolio and support our national marketing programming.

More specifically, you will:

  • Coordinate, direct, and execute our outsourced, multimillion-dollar Beverage Fund, led by IMI Marketing Agency.
  • Nurture effective relationships with our beverage vendors.
  • Builds, develops, and executes national and local beverage programming to drive incremental revenue.
  • Provide support in the creation and development of new, innovative marketing and training initiatives.
  • Lead and direct all training and rollouts to our on-property teams at various levels including line level team members to ensure successful execution.
  • Lead the development of beverage projects and deliver results on time in a cost effective manner.
  • Ensure business plan and goals are being followed and achieved, providing feedback or revising the plan, if needed.
  • Establish and implement policies and procedures that will improve the overall beverage operations, in partnership with the Americas Food & Beverage team.
  • Review and make appropriate adjustments in activities and expenses throughout the fiscal year to ensure optimal financial results.
  • Oversee budget and provide timely and accurate updates to SVP Food & Beverage.
  • Partner with hotel catering teams and build positive relationships and work with the trainers.

In addition to performance of the essential functions, you may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely figured out by the supervisor based upon the requirements of the company.

  • Travel to conduct on-site beverage trainings and lead all aspects of launch and rollout.
  • Provides lateral support to the Americas F&B team.
  • Represent and participate in industry tradeshows, events or internal meetings.
What are we looking for?

We believe the success in this role will demonstrate itself through the following attributes and skills:

  • High degree of proficiency and experience in handling third party budgets and relationships
  • Experience crafting national and local beverage programming
  • Ability to develop, lead, and deliver training to on-property Team Members to ensure successful marketing campaigns and representation of our beverage programming
  • Excellent public speaking and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated financial acumen
  • Ability to take initiative to identify, prioritize, and implement all elements required for our hotel teams to deliver our beverage programming effectively
  • Deep understanding of the hotel industry in general with specific knowledge of beverage programming, food & beverage training, effective marketing strategies, etc.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to formulate emails, training materials, supplemental marketing collateral, as well as articulate clear and concise information to vendors, key partners, and on-property teams
  • Build and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships
To fulfill this role successfully, you should demonstrate the following minimum qualifications:
  • Seven (7) years of experience in hospitality (F&B, Catering, or similar area)
  • Three (3) years of management experience in a Food and Beverage role
  • Two (2) years of vendor management experience
  • Intermediate experience in Microsoft Office suite of products (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Outlook)
  • Strong financial acumen
  • Experience in restaurant and hotel operations
  • Experience coordinating and leading F&B events
  • Strong training experience
  • Travel – 33% across the Americas region (includes US, Canada and CALA) approximately 6-7 work days/per month
It would be helpful in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:
  • BA/BS Bachelor’s Degree and relevant beverage training certifications (e.g., Sommelier certificate)
  • Nine (9) years of experience in hospitality or restaurant experience, Hilton specific experience a plus
  • A sincere passion for food and beverage
  • Bilingual – English and Spanish (written and verbal)
