The Laboratory Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising all the technical functions within the Laboratory; including testing, training, safety, hazardous waste management, and relating with Laboratory Management, other labs, and physicians; ensures that services are of the best quality, are cost contained, and are carried out in an expeditious manner; responsible for recognizing results or problems that require referral to the Director of Laboratory Services or Medical Director. The Laboratory Manager shall assume the responsibilities of the Director of Laboratory Services in their absence. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served.
Required Skills
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
Must be certified as an MT or CLS from a national accrediting agency.
Education: Must meet minimum CLIA ’88 guidelines for Technical Supervisor:
Bachelor’s Degree and certificate from an NAACLS-accredited medical laboratory training program highly preferred.
General:

Required Experience
Experience:
A minimum of four years’ experience as a medical technologist and 4 years as supervisor of a laboratory section highly preferred.
