Position Summary: Under the direction of the Laboratory Director, the Director of Molecular Diagnostics directs the operations of the Molecular Laboratory. Responsibilities include; selection, development and execution of new test validation, managing molecular diagnostic workflows, maintaining policy and procedure manuals, staff competency assessment and oversight, test utilization, fiscal responsibilities, data and general laboratory QC oversight, troubleshooting and compliance with CLIA and CAP laboratory standards.

Position Requirements: MLS(ASCP) or equivalent with prior experience in molecular diagnostics. MB certification is preferred.

Education: Minimum of aBachelor of Science degree in biological Science/Health or related field from an accredited university. Master’s degree or higher will be given preference.

Experience: Minimum of two years’ experience in molecular diagnostics at the level of CLIA technical supervisor or CAP section director. One year prior experience working in a CAP or COLA-accredited laboratory environment at the supervisory level preferred.

Special qualifications: Expressing or exchanging ideas by the means of the spoken word is required. Perceiving the nature of sound by the ear is required. The ability to see and obtain impressions through the eyes of shape, size, distance, motions, or other characteristics of objects is required. The job requires 100% standing or walking. Good judgment is essential with the ability to function independently and must possess problem-solving skills specific to molecular diagnostic laboratory testing. Ability to operate independently in troubleshooting and implementation of corrective actions of technical platforms. The ability to communicate effectively and comprehend directives in writing is essential to the role.

Continued Education: Must maintain current knowledge in all aspects of Laboratory Policies and Procedures, Quality control Documents, CAP and CLIA accreditation standards.
