The Director, Benefits, Compensation & HRIS leads the Benefits, Compensation, and HRIS functions for the company. This position provides strategic insight to the company’s reward, pay and HR system programs. A roll-up your sleeves leader, this person mentors’ others while ensuring that all processes are performed with excellence. This role makes a measurable and meaningful difference by identifying, implementing and administering practices that help the company achieve its objectives and drive a competitive position in the marketplace. As a key leader on the Human Resources team, this position has direct reports and indirect influence over the development of talent.
Essential Functions:
Benefits:
- Development and oversight of health and retirement programs, assessing the competitiveness of existing benefit programs to ensure they are performance-driven, market competitive, appropriately leveraged, and accurately administered.
- Coordinate relationships with brokers and third-party solution providers
- Manage and process reconciliations ensuring active stewardship for the financial resources of the company
Compensation:
- Oversee and evaluate compensation programs that drive quality performance, align with company goals and are competitive in the labor market
- Regularly assess the environment for new compensation practices and strategies that are financially sustainable and make FHI an employer of choice
- Manages job analysis and evaluation in alignment with the FLSA guidelines
HRIS:
- Manages all aspects of the planning, development, testing, implementation, reporting and user support for the HRIS system
- Promotes proactive approaches using the HRIS to solve business needs/problems, while also enhancing the understanding and acceptance of the HRIS capabilities.
- Based on business need, negotiates priorities and support requirement with the IT and Finance Departments, functional staff and others as appropriate
- Optimize all HR systems and help subject matter experts create efficiencies through current software and/or assessing HR technology available in the marketplace with IT
Other:
- Support’s the worker’s compensation function and provides leadership to the Worker’s Compensation Specialist
- Partners and collaborates across the organization developing professional relationships
- Promotes proactive solutions
- Ensures coverage for all functions during periods of low staffing and/or high volume
- Leads continuous improvement projects within functions and participate in other organizational projects to improve efficiency
- Function independently and capably manage and navigate multiple priorities

- Identify and develop internal talent
- Ensures all plans comply with federal, state and local laws

Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (Business Administration, Human Resources, Accounting, or related field) from an accredited institution. Master’s degree preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum eight (8) years of direct benefits and compensation experience
- Minimum three (3) years of experience as a people leader
- Minimum one (1) year experience working with associates in non-traditional office environments preferred (distribution, manufacturing, retail, etc)
- Successful track record in positions of increasing responsibility within the benefits, compensation and HRIS function.
License/Certification:
- Relevant certifications strongly preferred (SPHR, CEBS, CCP, CBP, etc.)
- Certification in Workday preferred
Required Skills:
- Bridge technical and non-technical worlds with ease
- Operate at a strategic level and tactical operations level
- Handle multiple tasks, meet deadlines and coordinate work with a variety of people
- Strong working knowledge of Skype, GoToMeeting, Microsoft platform: specifically, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
- Experience using an Applicant Tracking System, HRIS system (ADP Enterprise, Workday)

- Strong consultative partnering skills
Work Environment:
This position is full-time. Out of state travel anticipated: 10 – 20%.
The setting is mostly an office setting using standard office equipment such as a laptop computer, phones, photocopier, and filing cabinets. Occasionally this position will travel to distribution centers, which may not be climate controlled, including loud noises, areas below 32 degrees and require extended walking/movement in small areas amidst heavy machinery.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to perform the essential functions of the job successfully. While performing the duties of this role, the associate is regularly required to talk and hear. This position requires the ability to use a computer, lift files, and office supplies up to 20 pounds. Periodically drive a motor vehicle. Needs the ability to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking in person or on the telephone.
