The Assistant Vice President for Student Success provides leadership for processes and units that support student success at Illinois State. This position will develop academic student success initiatives to increase retention and graduation rates across all socio-demographics. The position will also work across all divisions at ISU to develop a united student success program that helps ISU reach its retention and graduation goals. The Assistant Vice President for Student Success will be responsible for envisioning and building the unit within Academic Affairs and forge a strong partnership with Student Affairs and Finance and Planning in particular. The position will collaborate and support the Provost and other members of the Academic Affairs leadership team in efforts to enhance diversity and inclusion on campus.

Required Qualifications
1. Doctoral degree or other terminal degree appropriate to the individual’s academic discipline.
2. Minimum of five years of leadership experience in student success and retention with experience in student success programs, campus wide initiatives, and advising with increasing levels of responsibility.
3. Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and assess student success related partnerships and programs.
4. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including ability to make effective public presentations.
5. Excellent interpersonal skills with a wide range of audiences.
6. Demonstrated experiences in working with students, faculty, department staff and campus administrators across all university divisions.
7. Evidence of commitment to diversity and inclusion.
8. Ability to work independently while communicating salient issues to University leadership.
9. Ability to successfully prioritize, coordinate and facilitate multiple projects and deadlines independently and with limited supervision. Proven ability to manage conflict.
10. Demonstrated leadership ability in decision-making, performance management, and problem-solving.
11. Experience in assessment and strategic planning at a department or division level.
12. Experience with managing complex budgets at the department or division level.
13. Demonstrated experience with Peoplesoft Campus Solutions, Banner, or similar large student information systems.
14. If this position is Security Sensitive or if you are subject to a criminal background investigation based on University policy, employment is contingent upon you passing a satisfactory criminal background investigation. You may not begin work until the criminal background investigation results have been received and cleared by Human Resources.
