General Summary: Serves as the Administrative Assistant to the President, responsible for providing administrative support and overseeing the office functions of the President. This position shall report to the President of River Valley Community College.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manages the day-to-day operations of the President’s Office.
- Performs administrative duties such as drafting and preparing correspondence for approval by the President, Vice Presidents and other administrative staff and faculty for distribution to business leaders, accreditation agencies, state officials, etc.
- Assists in handling confidential student and/or employee matters and maintains confidential records or files.
- Acts as the initial contact for the President’s Office by answering/referring all calls to the President’s Office, scheduling meetings with the President, when appropriate; maintaining a schedule of all appointments in the Office of the President.
- Organizes and records Presidents’ Leadership, Advisory Board, and other meetings involving the President; responsible for posting all governance team and committee meeting minutes and agendas. Serves as the executive assistant liaison between the President and the College Advisory Board.
- Informs faculty and staff of administrative procedures, ensuring compliance with all state and department policies and procedures; responds to faculty, student and staff issues in the Office of the President and refers matters as appropriate.
- Coordinates and produces various internal and external communications including Campus Newsletters, press releases, social media, and website news and information
- Prepares special reports for President; surveys and interprets data as requested and prepares correspondence; serves as recording secretary at meetings and prepares agenda and minutes.
- Oversees support functions and personnel, including the receptionist and administrative assistant(s), for the coordination of schedules to provide for appropriate coverage for the Office of the President.
- Analyzes office procedures and systems and makes recommendation for quality improvement; makes routine decisions and recommends modifications in office procedures as needed.
- Assists with marketing and public relations, including event planning and coordination.
- Serves on various campus committees and teams.
- Attends workshops, seminars and conferences for professional development.
- Complies with all system, college, state and federal rules and regulations including, but not limited to, health and safety policies, the State of NH Policy of Sexual Harassment, Drug Free Workplace, Domestic Violence and administrative rules, civil rights laws, etc.
- Performs other duties assigned by the President.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Associate’s degree from a recognized college or technical institute with a major study in business administration, accounting, or public administration. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience: Three (3) years of experience in responsible office or business management activities. Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.

Knowledge of basic principles and practices of accounting. Ability to plan, assign, and supervise the work of others. Ability to understand and carry out complex written or oral instructions. Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with administrative officials, other employees, and the general public. Must be willing to maintain appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by the agency appointing authority.
License/Certifications: Valid Driver’s License or access to statewide transportation.
Additional Desired Qualifications: Ability to effectively organize, prioritize and complete tasks independently and in an accurate and timely manner. Ability to make independent decisions and exercise sound judgment Knowledge of FERPA and demonstrated ability of adherence to confidentiality rules and regulations. Experience with multiple social media platforms. Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and exercise discretion and appropriate judgment in handling sensitive material.
