The Vice President of People is responsible for enriching the lives of Aspire team members through strategic development of all People functions and strategies including but not limited to:

  • talent engagement and management
  • culture
  • compensation, benefits and wellness
  • labor relations and negotiation
  • organizational development
  • policies and practices development
  • ethical and social issues
  • human capital management systems, and
  • compliance with laws and regulations

This position leads both our People and IT service teams and vendor contract negotiations. The Vice President of People serves as the resident advisor and coach for the leadership team regarding all people matters and influences optimal people and organizational performance and health.

The Vice President of People guides people practices and objectives that facilitate a team-oriented, high-performance culture and superior workforce. This role is a high visibility leadership position with considerable team member, board and other stakeholder interaction regarding a vast variety of human resources-related policies and procedures.

  • the willingness and ability to travel to local facilities as needed – a valid Illinois driver’s license with a good driving record, personal vehicle and state minimum insurance coverage are required.

Preferred Education, Skills and Experiences:

  • a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Human Resources, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible HR experience, PHR/SPHR and/or SHRM-SCP or SHRM-CP certification preferred.
  • previous experience with mergers and acquisitions highly preferred
  • previous experience working in a union environment and negotiating collective bargaining agreements is preferred but not required.
  • good knowledge of the nonprofit sector, though for-profit experience is also beneficial.
  • advanced Microsoft Office skills including data analytics and reporting. Knowledge of HRIS, Paycom preferred.
  • excitement about working across multiple program and workspaces in collaborative (open) office environments.
