Summary

The Project Manager II provides the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of specific projects ensuring consistency with company strategy, commitments and goals. This position works with both external and internal customers to oversee all aspects of a project, including, but not limited to, setting deadlines, assigning responsibilities, and monitoring and summarizing progress of projects.

Essential Functions

Overall accountability for assigned projects, timeline, and delivery of services related to the project within the defined scope and timelines

Develops, maintains and publishes project work plans and estimates as defined by the Client Integration process

Directs and manages project development from coordinating kick-off meetings through implementation to completion and reviews lessons learned

Manages project resource allocation, identifies and manages project dependencies and critical paths

Builds, develops and grows business relationships vital to the success of the project

Communicates frequently with team members, third party groups and management, regarding program status, timeline, tasks and deliverables

Gathers and analyzes information such as data elements, template specifications and programming source documents in order to define the scope of projects

Creates and maintains client specific documents on SharePoint to ensure document and version control and the accuracy of documentation

Identifies, manages, and mitigates project risks and resolves issues in a timely manner to ensure program success

Performs research, documents findings and makes recommendations based on the gathered research

Facilitates briefing sessions to ensure all stakeholders and impacted parties are aware of relevant information from project commencement through post release quality validation including any issues that may impact the project

Analyzes test data to ensure complete test data has been supplied for development

Reviews pre-sign off samples for layout, format, content, etc. prior to being sent to client for final sign off

Works with the Compliance Team to maintain Covius “Best Practices” Templates

Prepares various reports, including forecasting, resource allocation and budget status

Proactively manages changes in project scope, identifies potential crises and devises contingency plans to mitigate negative impact to the project timeline and overall success

Conducts project post mortems and develops recommendation reports in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements


Education

High School Diploma or equivalent

Bachelor’s Degree preferred

Project Management Professional Certification preferred


Experience

10+ years of experience in Program and/or Project Management involving custom development, business process optimization or contract client services

Proven experience as a full-time program manager in a software development environment

Proven technical capability/experience working within a software development environment

Experienced in conflict resolution

Appreciation and understanding of software development methodologies e.g. Agile, RUP, etc.

Essential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Advanced knowledge in the area of project management

Proficiency with project management software

Ability to manage, lead, and mentor professionals of varying levels of experience, including the ability to create a positive and collaborative team environment

Ability to visualize, conceptualize, design and implement original and creative ideas and solutions to directly impact and add value to the organization

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Strong project management skills, including knowledge of project management theory and methodology

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

Possesses strong organizational and time management skills

Comfortable in a high pressure, high growth and high transaction environment

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals

Possesses strong problem solving and analytical skills

Demonstrates strong attention to detail and a high standard for excellence

High degree of professional ethics and integrity

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and other stakeholders

Professional demeanor, including ability to use tact and sound judgment in contact with individuals within and outside of the corporation

Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of client, staff, and vendor information


Working Conditions

Work is performed in climate controlled indoor administrative office setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate, depending upon office or meeting location.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate. The employee frequently is required to remain stationary. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move 10 pounds. Vision: Close and distance required with ability to see objects in presence of glare or bright lighting (e.g., computer screen). Speech/Hearing: Frequently interact with management, vendors, coworkers, industry constituents, clients and the public.
