Background

We don’t just build custom software, we are a technology partner who creates lasting relationships that help our customers grow their business. We work with innovative companies to create custom applications that will unlock growth, streamline processes, and ensure scalability. It’s why we love what we do. We collaborate with our clients on a daily basis to ensure we are driving value at multiple levels.

We have been in business for over 15 years and employ more than 175 people from our headquarters in Portland, and across our satellite offices in San Diego, Austin, Jacksonville Beach, Ashland, and Vietnam. For six years running we continue to be honored as one of Inc. 5000’s and Portland Business Journal’s Fastest Growing Private Companies, and there is little sign of slowing down!

Why this Role? Why Now?

For 15 years, we have developed deep and meaningful partnerships because we treat each project as vital to the success of our customer’s goals and our own growth and viability. While that has resulted in some amazing work, awards won, and a high level of customer satisfaction, it is time for us to hire a leader into that function who can provide the process, framework, and vision forward for scaling into the future. Keeping a focus on client value, our Head of Project Management should be defining the Project and Program competency here at AltSource, ensuring we are executing true to our commitments, building a culture of performance and accountability, and delivering on-time, on-scope, and on-budget with a roadmap of 100+ projects. This role will collaborate daily with leaders of Product and Software Development to ensure that the pace of projects is aligned with the appropriate business outcomes and roadmap objectives. You will lead and scale a team of six Project Managers to a new paradigm of excellence and maintain the high level of confidence and trust our customers place in us.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Project Management function and current team of six Project Managers
  • Proactively plan for staffing/hiring needs in light of customer portfolio and anticipated project work
  • Proactively drive conversations – both at the customer level and internally – that shape the pace, expectations, and delivery of key project work
  • Work directly with the customer for status updates, project scope, deliverables, and feedback
  • Align our project work with quarterly and annual customer goals and initiatives
  • Own the metrics and margins of the Project Management department
  • Be the subject-matter expert for the Project and Program competency at AltSource
  • Collaborate closely with Product and Development to identify key project work and allocate the appropriate resources to deliver on-time, on-scope, and on-budget
  • Pivot our Project posture from reactive to proactive, as you lead the Project department to a new definition of customer value and excellence
  • Collaborate with Product to identify where interdependent projects intersect and pilot large cross-team projects in light of program goals
  • Ensure clear, timely communication across multiple teams and stakeholders in a lean, agile environment
  • Work with internal leadership to ensure shifting business needs are reflected in the planning and executing of various projects and programs

The Big 5:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Business Admin, or related field
  • PMP, PMO, or related certification and level of subject-matter expertise
  • 8+ years of experience in Enterprise-level Software Project Management
  • 4+ years in a Manager or Director role within Project or Program Management
  • Track record of high performance with key wins and outcomes within an Agile environment

The Support You Deserve:
We are very proud of the high employee retention and work culture we have built here at AltSource, but we never allow ourselves to feel we have “arrived.” We believe hiring uniquely talented individuals with diverse backgrounds and life experiences is the only way to continue to create a compelling product and service to our customers. While we offer amazing perks like a beautifully appointed headquarters in SE Portland, replete with ping pong, locker/bike rooms, catered breakfasts/lunches and enough Kombucha to fill the Mt. Tabor Reservoir, we don’t believe that those things are the foundation of true, substantive culture.

At our heart, we are a group of builders and doers who are obsessed with seeking a better way to drive client value. We come to work each day, braving the freeway traffic, lack of bike lanes, or crowded MAX cars because we actively choose a career that pushes us outside our comfort zone and allows us to experience personal growth and development rare to most organizations of our size. Because we seek high performance and high accountability, we offer competitive wage and benefit packages including paid medical and dental for all employees, and a 401k plan that rewards dedication and loyalty.
