Director of Software Engineering, New Products

The Role and Responsibilities

This senior management position requires an energetic and self-motivated individual with excellent communication, organization, and technical skills to work cross functionally with other organizations (internal and external), who can communicate at all levels of management. This is a unique opportunity for a senior professional who enjoys a high-level of independence, visibility and responsibility.

• Lead embedded software development for current next generation consumer products
• Recruit and manage world class software and quality engineering team.
• Oversee product development from concept to mass production.
• Drive timely delivery of software to the factory for all stages of production.
• Provide technical direction, guidance, and hands-on management.
• Work with product managers, program managers, and other engineering leads – communicate cross functionally and drive engineering efforts company wide.
• Plan for operational efficiency to scale products, programs and practices as Roku is expanding.

Experience/Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in a software leadership role at Director or VP level.
• Bachelors in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent (Masters preferred).
• Extensive experience with embedded Linux and system-on-a-chip (SoC) development.
• Proven strong track record of shipping high quality software on embedded platforms.
• Experience working with ODM and building products for mass production at scale.
• Ability to see the big picture while focused on short-term objectives and deliverables.
• Proven ability to manage external vendors.
• Ability to multi-task and drive parallel projects with tight deadlines
