What we’re looking for: We are seeking a talented professional who will be responsible for the high-quality, timely, and cost-effective publication of the RSNA journals, from acceptance through print and online publication. The Director of Journal Editorial and Production will work collaboratively with Editors to chart a long-term and sustainable course for the journals.

What you’ll do:
- Work with staff to establish, monitor, and evaluate policies, personnel, organization, work processes, and procedures designed to ensure high-quality, cost-effective, and timely production, online publication, and distribution of RSNA publications
- Assist Editors in establishing and maintaining policies and procedures that facilitate timely and high-quality publication of the journals in all formats, including copyediting, production, and distribution
- Oversee and assist in the development, maintenance and analysis of manuscript tracking programs for all RSNA journals; ensures accurate and timely delivery of reporting
- Assist in planning, conducting, and reporting at meetings and conference calls
- Manage the hiring, training, supervising, developing, and evaluating of all department staff responsible for functions in the editorial and production teams across the journals
- Identify and implement strategies for operational efficiencies leading to more rapid, high quality journal production and distribution
- Oversee journal vendor relationships to assure smooth coordination and effective collaboration
- Establish and monitor budgets for publications, and other projects and activities related to publications
- Work with departments on publications features and processes that integrate with education features and processes, such as journal CME opportunities; promote article content and journal messaging
What you’ll need:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher
- 10 or more years’ experience in medical journal publication, print and online
- 7 or more years’ experience in publication management
- Excellent management skills
- Excellent planning and organizational skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills: ability to communicate clearly and effectively
- Excellent interpersonal skills: ability to establish and maintain good working relationships
- Good supervisory skills
- Adept at developing effective teams
- Excellent decision-making ability
- Excellent judgment
