Lutheran Family Services has an exciting opportunity available for someone with prior grant writing and supervisory experience. The Director of Grants job purpose will be:

Direct all aspects of the grant writing department and develop long term strategies for researching, identifying, and soliciting grant funding sources that match the organization’s funding goals.

Collaborate with programs and departments to identify fundable projects fitting organizational strategies.

Manage Grant Writing staff

Manage other projects or duties, as assigned, under the direction of the Chief Program Officer

Research Grant Sources

  • Conduct research and write proposals to secure funded grants for services, general operations and capital projects that match with the organization’s funding goals.
  • Actively solicit grant funding sources on a local, state and national level.
  • Match potential grants to appropriate program area or region
  • Research opportunities for developing new grant development initiatives and innovations

Grant Management

  • Consult with executive team on grant research, determination of asset needs, proposal development and project management.
  • Oversee work quality and prioritize assignments of other grant and report writer.
  • Track funding source proposal requirements and application deadlines.
  • Develop and monitor grant and report due date calendar.
  • Provide regular reports to funding sources of progress in funded programs, to include the United Way, private donors and foundations.
  • Create and maintain required reporting to funding sources on the status of projects and the appropriation and use of funds.

Collaboration

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with individuals and teams within the organization.
  • Interact and collaborate regularly with internal customers to establish and maintain a cooperative relationship.
  • Create grant development resources for the organization and educate staff members about grants.
  • Work to establish and maintain a positive team environment.

Manage Team

  • Lead the team in the execution of grant proposals and short and long term goals.
  • Provide recruitment, hiring, orientation, training, coaching, mentoring, goal setting, evaluation of performance.
  • Maintain adequate staffing to provide excellent and efficient service.
  • Monitor and assist program staff in meeting organizational standards and compliance with grant and contract requirements.

Requirements:
Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, marketing or related field preferred
  • Experience in grant writing and reporting, projection and strategic planning
  • Experience in progressive supervisory responsibilities
  • Prior experience in a non-profit setting preferred
