The AVP of Applications Services is responsible for leading an organization who support Hanover’s Enterprise and Corporate application portfolio. This multi-faceted role consists of leading a team of developers and database administrators, supporting business strategic development needs, driving DevOps best practices, and providing operational support.
This is a Full-time, Exempt role.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
The Application Services leader primary responsibility is to oversee all Enterprise/Corporate business applications and related activities.
- Develop and manage application portfolios to attain all IT service level agreements for the user community within the organization. This includes leading the direction for DevSecOps and Operational support of all major business facing applications.
- Direct management of group leaders along with appropriate staffing and management of the 50-person organization.
- Will apply proven communication and problem-solving skills to guide and assist the team on issues related to the design, development, and deployment of mission-critical information and software systems.
- Plan, coordinate, direct, and design all operational activities of the application department, as well as provide direction and support for IT solutions that enhance mission-critical business operations.
- Supervise and maintain the organization’s repository of software applications through best practices.
- Work closely with decision makers in other departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the organization.
- Ensure that applications meet business requirements and systems goals, fulfill end-user requirements, and identify and resolve systems issues.
- Review and analyze existing applications effectiveness and efficiency, and then develop strategies for improving or leveraging these systems.
- Cultivate and disseminate knowledge of application-usage, best practices, and proactive design patterns to fortify system stability.
- Assists in high-level strategy formulation, develops corresponding mid-level strategies and oversees creation and implementation of such.
- Provides strategic leadership in creating and implementing programs/projects/processes for Corporate strategic initiatives.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or another related field.
- Has 15+ years of IT and business/industry work experience, with at least 7+ years of leadership experience and 5-7 years managing Application Development group, projects, portfolios while leading IT operational areas.
- Has in-depth knowledge of the technologies they are currently supporting and a proven willingness to stay knowledgeable about and introduce new technologies that would enhance our businesses.
- Balances strategic and operational priorities to deliver results.
