EBA Engineering, Inc. is a rapidly growing civil engineering firm with focus on transportation engineering design and construction management/inspection with 5 office locations and about 200 employees throughout the Mid-Atlantic region and is seeking a qualified candidate to serve as Operations Manager based in Virginia. The candidate must have extensive experience working with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) as well as local government transportation engineering departments, consultants and contractor partners.
As the Vice President of Operations you will expand EBA’s services in Virginia by executing business development and marketing strategies that will cultivate new clients and contract awards in transportation engineering design and construction management/inspection.
Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee operational, technical, and administrative matters for a 30-person operation
- Work closely with EBA’s executive leadership team and marketing department to increase the company visibility, strategic partnerships, contract awards, geographic expansion of services, acquisition and joint venture business opportunities
- Search and respond to invitations to bids (RFP’s)
- Direct oversight in proposal development, pricing, contract negotiations and management
- Implement and enhance consistent practices to ensure services are delivered in accordance with company initiatives, expectations, and the strategic plan
- Make sure all projects adhere to company quality control program and safety standards
- Provide technical direction and guidance, as well as hands-on project management, as needed, to mentor staff
- Be the driving force in developing the team’s work ethic, culture, and values through personal example in a manner that is consistent with EBA policies
- Represent EBA at industry-related professional organization events, conferences, meetings, panels, trade shows, symposiums or workshops
Education and Experience Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in transportation engineering design, or construction management and inspection
- 5+ years of experience in managerial or supervisory role
- 5+ years of experience in client management
- Demonstrated experience working with VDOT and local government transportation departments
- Proficient in proposal development, pricing, contract negotiations, management and procurement
- Experience working with capital funding and operating budgets
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management/Inspection or related is required
- A professional engineering (P.E.) licensure is required
- Excellent oral and written communication, and presentation skills
