The Carolinas Center for Medical Excellence, a 501(c)3 organization, located in Cary, NC, is seeking a highly experienced leader and manager to join its executive leadership team as the Vice President of Finance and Administration. The Vice President has overall strategic and operational responsibility for Finance and Administration Departments. The role requires not-for-profit experience.

Key Responsibilities:

The Vice President of Finance and Administration is responsible for the financial, human resources, facilities, information technology, contract administration, and investments for the organization. He/she will work closely with the President & CEO and Board of Directors on budgets and revenue estimates, report regularly to the President and CEO on financial performance, supervise finance and administrative staff, manage relationships with financial advisors, banks, audit firm and government payors.

Qualifications:

The Vice President of Finance and Administration will be a seasoned and mature strategic and operational leader with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, economics or related fields, preference for an MBA, and a minimum of 10 years of broad finance and administrative leadership experience in a not-for-profit organization. Demonstrated experience in proactively gathering and evaluating financial information and making actionable recommendations to the CEO, senior leaders and Board of Directors. Experience working with independent audit firms. Must possess knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting practices standards. Understanding of government contracting and managing complex revenue streams. Experience working with financial systems and managing finance (accounting, budgeting, control, and reporting) for a nonprofit with multiple funding sources. Experience in oversight of investments.

In addition, the Vice President of Finance and Administration will have experience managing a diverse portfolio of administration functions including HR, IT contracts administration and related activities.

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree. Prefer an MBA.
  • At least 10 years’ experience in senior or executive finance and administration leadership positions.
  • Must have non-profit experience, preferably in a health care or related company or entity, with a budget of $10 million or more.
  • Experience in a senior financial management role, partnering with executive staff, resulting in the development of creative financial management strategies including developing competitive pricing models.
  • Experience overseeing management of administrative areas (HR, IT, facilities, contracts) in a growth environment with an emphasis of creating systems and processes which are effective and efficient.
  • Experience work with 401K plans and the IRS requirements.
  • Significant experience in nonprofit accounting, including sophisticated contract management accounting, compliance and reporting.
  • Solid experience supervising staff and working collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Experience managing implementation of new systems, software and working with IT staff.
  • Experience with finance and accounting software packages.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, team management, interpersonal skills and good judgment.
  • Self-starter who demonstrates the highest standards of integrity.
  • Excellent analytic and abstract reasoning, problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Strong business partner who has successfully negotiated favorable terms with contracting agencies, vendors, suppliers and others.
