The Technical Project Manager (PM)/Scrum Master (SM) serves as the liaison between IT personnel and business owners and as a role model and a servant leader helping team members realize their maximum potential by removing obstacles and empowering the team to deliver. The Technical PM/SM cultivates a culture of pro-activeness in the team and encourages the team to think holistically about the development effort. This role ensures that basic principles of Agile development are effectively followed by team and ensures that the team is continually improving their processes.

The Technical PM/SM initiates and leads the delivery of big data solutions, the administration of analytical platforms, and the use of business intelligence/visualization tools. The role requires cross-functional collaboration with Product Owners, functional and business stakeholders, application teams, technical SMEs, and management to ensure standardized processes are established across the software development/project lifecycle and release management to drive the development of high quality, high value software products/solutions within an Agile environment.

]Responsibilities:

  • Manage the delivery of multiple projects, proofs-of-concept, and functional resources involving Data Science, Data Engineering, JSON Development, and Business Intelligence Reporting within an Agile based methodology to advance the use of big data analytical capabilities by different stakeholder and customer groups
  • Contribute to project scoping, including requirement assessment, best practices, design and development
  • Oversee product releases of assigned project(s) by coordinating Infrastructure/Engineering, Development, Security Compliance, Deployment Planning, Technical Communications, Knowledge Management
  • Responsible for documentation deliverables including project plans, deployment plans, issues lists, status reports, and meeting agendas with action items.
  • Elicit customer requirements using techniques such as interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, task and workflow analysis
  • Collaborate with Product Owners (PO), Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and developers to understand the customer needs and translate that into the product backlog and assist with regularly scheduled grooming sessions
  • Evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs
  • Define detailed stories with applicable acceptance criteria in collaboration with the Product Owners and technology team
  • Ensure that the team understands requirements, deliverables, timelines, priorities and issues to successfully meet business goals
  • Facilitate Agile ceremonies such as daily sprint stand-ups, grooming, planning, reviews, and retrospectives
  • Facilitate discussion, decision making, root cause analysis of issues/incidents, and conflict resolution
  • Create an environment of continuous improvement by helping the team identify areas of the development process that can be improved and helping the team commit to and deliver improvements in those processes

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of project management/agile experience, Associates degree. Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Understanding of the basic fundamentals of software development/data engineering processes and procedures
  • Experience with data analysis and good understanding of data modeling concepts; 2-3 years of experience with SQL, basic SQL skills
  • Minimum of 2 years of software requirements analysis
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts
  • Expertise in agile methodology and frameworks like Scrum, Kanban, etc.
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative, fast paced environment
  • Experience with software development, BI, and reporting (BI, dashboards, visualizations, etc.) – Tableau, Informatica, Scala and/or Databricks experience desired
  • Experience with one or more relational database systems (e.g., Oracle, MySQL, Postgres) preferred
  • Strong attention to detail, be highly organized with experience managing project schedules
  • PMP and/or CSM preferred but not required
