Phil Romano founded Macaroni Grill on a simple belief. He set out to create a restaurant inspired by his grandfather’s kitchen in upstate New York, where the cuisine was rooted in Italian tradition, but the emphasis was on a place family could gather and have a great time over food made with the finest of ingredients. Late 2018 Romano’s Macaroni Grill acquired Sullivan’s Steakhouse. A 1940’s Chicago-style steakhouse offering the finest Certified Angus Beef; select seafood, lamb and chicken entrees, appetizers, soups, salads, and side dishes (including Sullivan’s renowned au gratin potatoes). Sullivan’s is rooted in the rich tradition of classic steakhouses, but with a lively twist that turns every meal into a night to remember.

SUMMARY:
The Director of Operations will be responsible for leading the development, management, and implementation of policies, practices, and procedures. The Director will utilize operational and culinary knowledge, catering experience, and excellent communication skills to work closely with the restaurant teams in managing the day-to-day operations to grow sales through excellence in service while ensuring guest satisfaction.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Build passionate loyalty to the company vision.
- Create followership. Be an effective leader to ensure General Managers achieve their sales, cost, staffing and service goals
- Understand the details of the operation, including all operating standards, food and beverage standards, and service standards. Quickly recognize when a standard is not being met, and teach managers how to improve.
- Determine accountabilities and enforce policies and procedures
- Plan, monitor, appraise, and review job contributions and compensation strategies
- Mentor World Class Customer Service
- Coach General Managers on how to proactively problem-solve and de-escalate conflicts
- Direct organizational strategies by contributing information, analysis, and recommendations to functional strategic thinking and direction
- Implement financial strategies by anticipating trends, utilizing income statements and developing action plans; measuring and analyzing results, initiating corrective actions.
QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s Degree; MBA preferred
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Effective directing, coaching, supporting, delegating and mentoring skills
- Ability to promote accountability and manage field personnel with varying skills sets
- Ability to analyze performance metrics, identify opportunities and take initiative to translate analysis into action
- Strategic thinking with the ability to anticipate future business needs
- Effective time management and prioritization
- Ability to adapt to and lead in a rapidly changing business environment
- High level of integrity and honesty
