Category Manager

Job Description:

L3Harris’ Corporate Headquarters located in in Melbourne, FL is seeking a Category Manager to join our Corporate Indirect Category Management Team. This highly visible role drives organizational value by providing strategic and day-to-day leadership across our enterprise Indirect spend. Key responsibilities include working with executive management and functional stakeholders to identify best in class category practices, strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, and stakeholder relationship management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Drive organizational value (quality, cost, delivery) through cross functional collaboration for assigned categories
• Develop a category strategy for each assigned category that incorporates customer requirements, product requirements, market conditions, sourcing strategy, business risk, and supplier capabilities
• Partner as a “trusted advisor” on a continuous basis with internal customers to understand evolving business objectives, expectations and specific requirements
• Serve as an internal resource regarding new products, capabilities, technologies, and sourcing processes
• Develop and maintain knowledge of best practices, market conditions, trends, sources of supply and supplier capabilities for assigned categories
• Lead sourcing negotiations with all levels of supplier contacts to mitigate risk (quality, cost, delivery) through contract management best practices
• Define and track appropriate metrics for overall category value add (quality, cost, and delivery), provide data and input to business and corporate metrics and forecasts
• Establish sources and alternate sources of supply to enhance means of meeting purchase requirements and achieving best total delivered cost, quality, service, and technology
• Develop, maintain and strengthen long-term supplier relationships
• Manage supplier performance and use competitive criteria for supplier development and awarding business when applicable
• Resolve complex problems relating to supplier quality and service, contract disputes, and other discrepancies
• Travel approximately less than 25%

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Materials Management, Supply Chain, Finance or Engineering with a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience OR Graduate Degree with a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a category management/strategic sourcing role

Additional Preferred Skills:

• MBA or Graduate degree
• Experience using MS Excel and PowerPoint for the purposes of data analysis and creating presentations
• Demonstrated category management experience
• Cost analysis experience
• Experience negotiating contract terms and conditions and applying prior experience to mitigate riskProject management experience
• SciQuest/Jaggaer RFx experience
• Strong understanding of Procurement and Manufacturing Operations
• Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
• Institute of Supply Management (ISM) certification (CPSM, CPM) or equivalent
