Job Duties:
The Associate Vice President (AVP) of Payments is responsible for overseeing Apple’s debit and credit card processing, ATM and VTM servicing, ACH, Draft and wire processing departments, servicing support of BillPay, as well as strategic exploration and implementation of new payment methods. Will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of solutions that will support business strategies, improve functionality, achieve payment card and checking account growth goals and deliver a rich member experience. Ensures the efficient and accurate operation of credit union payment systems. Maintains awareness of payment regulations, competitive practices, and product lines and makes related recommendations. Works with his/her direct managers to actively participate in the development and improvement of the Credit Union’s payment and payment processing functions: ensuring quality member service, product competitiveness, profitability, portfolio quality, and regulatory compliance. Contributes to the formulation, implementation, and administration of payment policies and procedures, as well as developing and generating reports and relevant data to help track overall performance of payments channels. Contributes to the strategic adoption of and integration of members’ use of payment systems, ensuring holistic usage across the various payment channels. Responsible for ensuring robust growth in the payments arena for our members. Directly supervises the Managers of the Payments area and indirectly supervises the staff of those managers.
Qualification—all required unless otherwise noted:
- Four-year BA/BS in Business, Finance or Accounting required or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum ten (10) years Financial Institution experience, preferably within at least one of the Payment spaces such as ACH, draft, credit and/or debit processing.
- Minimum five (5) years supervisory management experience, including experience coaching, motivating and evaluating the performance of staff members.
- Excellent supervisory, interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Must possess strong administrative, coordinating, and communication skills.
- Have the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high volume environment, with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated knowledge of policies, procedures, regulations and legislation relating to Payments.
- PC proficient, including MS Office Suite.
- Travel required.
- Ability to function in a financial institution branch environment and utilize standard office equipment including but not limited to: PC, fax, copier, telephone, postage machine, etc.
