Background:

The Committee to Elect Ryan Acker is seeking a candidate who wishes to apply for the position of Vice President of the United States of America and to serve in the role of 2020 Vice Presidential Candidate as part of the Committee. The mission of the Committee is to empower Americans to secure individual freedoms and establish civil and social equality and equity, while ensuring the United States can reach its highest and fullest potential. We do this by raising awareness about the issues facing Americans and the United States itself, advocating for specific policies and systemic changes, promoting a sense of community, and electing Ryan Acker as the 46th President of the United States in November 2020.

General Description:

The Vice President of the United States is responsible for serving as the President of the United States Senate, as well as continuing in the role of the President in the event the elected President becomes incapacitated. The Committee to Elect Ryan Acker also supports a Vice Presidential Candidate with a specific championed project or projects in mind aligned with the Committee’s mission and vision. The Vice President’s term is for four years.

The Vice Presidential Candidate will be a member of the Committee to Elect Ryan Acker in the role of “2020 Vice Presidential Candidate”, and will be considered as an official applicant for the position of the Vice President of the United States. The Vice Presidential Candidate will appear alongside Ryan Acker, an independent, non-partisan candidate, in the 2020 Presidential Election. The commitment for this role is for the period of January 1, 2020 – December 31, 2020 as a member of the Committee, and for a four-year term beginning in January 2021 should Ryan Acker and the Vice Presidential Candidate be elected.

General Expectations:

The Vice President Candidate for the Acker 2020 Campaign will be expected to speak on issues of importance to Americans, assist and lead fundraising and volunteer recruitment activities in partnership with the Committee, and serve as a voice for the Committee to Elect Ryan Acker. Specific tasks might include: fundraising; marketing/outreach; advocating for policies aligned with the Acker platform; working with volunteers; active signature collection and event presence; and participation in the weekly advisory committee meeting (currently held Fridays at 3:00p EST).

Constitutional Qualifications:

In order to serve as Vice President, the individual must meet the same qualifications as the President of the United States. These include being:

  • Born in the United States;
  • A resident of the United States for at least 14 years;
  • From a state other than the President (this means other than the State of Ohio for the 2020 Election); and
  • At least 35 years old.

  • Ability to speak on the issues outlined in the platform and the strategic plan, as well as the ability to push them forward independently during the campaign and independently as Vice President of the United States;
  • A strong ability to work independently, as well as within a team setting;
  • A demonstrated commitment to serving all Americans, including those of various cultural backgrounds and identities;
  • Understands or is able and willing to learn and embody the roles of the Vice President, including the rules and procedures of the United States Senate;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Positive, achieve-anything spirit, with excellent problem-solving skills;
  • A demonstrated commitment to being inclusive, as well as to life-long learning;
  • U.S. military experience desired, but not required;
  • A background and understanding of social work, social services or any of the helping fields, or the ability to understand and advocate for those who have been traditionally excluded or underserved;
  • Ability to lead outreach activities, particularly in their home state;
  • Demonstrated ability to lead fundraising efforts; and
  • A strong commitment to professionalism, integrity and ethics

Salary:

The current salary for the Vice President of the United States is reported as $235,100.00 per year. The Committee to Elect Ryan Acker is primarily a volunteer-driven effort between now and the November 3, 2020 election, so candidates and volunteers need to have their own income source(s) throughout the campaign.

Reports To:

The Vice Presidential Candidate will be an equal voting member of the Committee to Elect Ryan Acker, and will work in close partnership with Ryan Acker and AJ Murphy, Campaign Manager, as well as additional committee members. The Committee strives to adhere to a consensus building model throughout the campaign.
