Pearson’s Online & Blended Learning (“POBL”) K-12 group provides high-quality, highly accountable online education solutions to schools, school districts and students in grades K-12. Position Summary:
The Vice President of Student Success is responsible for providing leadership in the determination, coordination, planning, implementation and evaluation of retention and student success initiatives. Leveraging data analytics, this position will support OBL and school retention efforts, identifying best practices and coordinating and influencing across functions including but not limited to Family Marketing, Enrollment, Family Support, Planning and Processes, Product Management, Curriculum and School Services. Specifically in School Services the VP of Student Success will need to closely work with the Partner School Leadership (PSLT) and the Partner School Success.

This position will report to the OBL Managing Director and will serve as a member of the OBL Leadership Team. This function is at the heart of Pearson’s aspiration to provide high quality online education to students and the VP of Student Success will be responsible for improving the overall student retention across CA schools. The VP Student Success is charged with ensuring that we maximize student outcomes, understanding that improved retention also drives increased academic outcomes for schools and OBL overall

+ Strategic Vision and Execution: Develop and execute a plan to enhance retention across OBL that articulates required functional coordination, needed support provided to the schools, and identifies leading and lagging metrics to ensure the success of the function

+ Design and implement data analysis, predictive models, institutional initiatives, policies, procedures and materials to increase retention.

+ Work in a cross functional environment to ensure that retention operational priorities are aligned with overall strategic direction of OBL with strong influencing skills.

+ Lead the Intent to Return (ITR) process to ensure communication and alignment between the schools and OBL enrollment and marketing functions. Build an annual campaign to enrolled parents to keep them enthusiastic about the product and schools

+ Evaluate (in conjunction with PSLT) schools’ retention efforts and processes to determine needed interventions and best practices for all schools

+ Provide leadership and guidance in implementing innovative, student-centered approaches to student success in co-curricular experiences, e.g. student activities and events, student clubs and organizations, first-year transition programming, student conduct, counseling and retention-focused activities

+ Create, manage, and monitor comprehensive onboarding program for new students to the schools (cross-functional work with PSLT, Marketing, Enrollment, Learning Coach Support, Family Support and Curriculum).

+ Work with Learning Coach Support and Product Training to ensure robust support for parents and learning coaches.

+ Develop a deep understanding of the product and identify and develop strategies to remove barriers to student success and advocate for changes with the leadership team

**Qualifications**

Requirements:
+ Bachelor or Master’s Degree required and related experience

+ Experience in marketing and retention of customers and/or education preferred, and significant experience required

+ Minimum of 5 years of direct experience working in/with schools/Universities in a leadership capacity, with some responsibility or oversight for retention during their tenure

+ Demonstrated success in leading change, aligning cross-functional teams toward a common goal and supporting administrators, teachers, and students

+ Experience working in a high-stakes regulatory environment such as education, financial services or health care, where compliance is critical to operational success and consequences for non-compliance are detrimental to the organization

+ Minimum of 10 years of experience identifying and implementing operational best practices, policies and process re-engineering and a proven track record in developing and executing strategic initiatives while understanding financial impacts

+ Strong leadership skills, an ability to build the case for change and to bring people with you. Operates with a high sense of urgency

+ Demonstrated ability to leverage technology and integrate diverse sets of information to solve problems as well as build and execute on business plans

+ Experience leading retention and student success “best practices”

+ Strong initiative and ability to work independently in a start-up or fast-paced environment and coordinate the completion of multiple tasks simultaneously. Adapts readily and easily to changes in priorities and business conditions while still driving towards organizational results

+ Ability to occasionally travel (approximately 20%)
