Position Overview
First Republic Bank is looking for a Vice President of Cloud Engineering to lead our implementation of the Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure across the entire bank. This is an exciting opportunity to partake in First Republic’s digital transformation and scale our proven business model into the future.
In this role you will be responsible for the Cloud Engineering Team’s effective execution on the product roadmap, which includes standing up the cloud infrastructure and migrating the bank’s on premise applications to AWS. You will partner with the Architecture and Product functions to refine the strategy, identify the necessary skillsets, and position the team with the people and resources critical for success. As the career manager for the Cloud Engineers, you will mentor and coach the team to advance their technical skills and increase team velocity. Finally, you will help operationalize the cloud’s use across the organization by defining best practices, establishing cost governance and reporting, and creating self-service capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Leading the execution of the AWS roadmap by ensuring the Cloud Engineering Team has the right skillsets and team configuration to successfully deliver.
- Partnering with Architecture, Product, and Business teams on defining the cloud strategy.
- Mentoring Cloud Engineers on their technical skills.
- Establishing cloud governance models for areas like cost management and recommended use.
- Instituting and evangelizing DevOps capabilities throughout the organization.
- Operationalizing the AWS platform through developing self-service capabilities, enabling the Cloud Operations Team, and standardizing wherever possible.
Qualifications
- 10-15 years in IT Infrastructure
- A successful track record of leading engineering teams from both a technical and people management perspective
- 2-3+ years supporting cloud environments
- Familiarity with infrastructure as code (IAC), infrastructure automation, and cloud technologies, ideally Hashicorp Terraform Enterprise, Ansible Tower, and AWS.
- A passion to continuously improve the way an organization works.
- Effective communication skills to partner with senior leaders across the organization.
- Ability to influence results without having direct oversight of all parties involved.
- Experience with migrating to the cloud or Agile development methodologies.

- Must be able to communicate effectively via telephone and in person.
