Position Summary
Reporting to the SVP, Human Resources North America and global Talent Acquisition, the Senior Director, People, Organization & Capabilities will be responsible for creating and driving strategic talent initiatives in North America which support and enable the rapid scaling of the business and profitable business growth over the next three years and beyond. S/he will design and implement key processes related to Succession Planning and Management, Performance Management, Talent Development, Leadership Development, Mentoring, Career Pathing, Employee Engagement, Training and Change Management. S/he will collaborate with HR and business colleagues in North America and globally to successfully embed key concepts and processes which facilitate a “One Ipsen” culture and position Ipsen North America as an employer of choice/destination organization.
Essential Functions
Responsibilities
- Create a North America Talent Management strategy linked to global that is fit for purpose.
- Pull together the various pieces under talent management umbrella (local training, global programs, local, global, North America needs) into a clear and cohesive plan for North America.
- Develop/Refine Talent Review process for North America and work in close concert with global colleagues to facilitate dialogue around key talent.
- Oversee strategies to retain and accelerate development of key talent and successor candidates.
- Collaborate with HR colleagues to ensure a Performance Management process which supports and enables a culture of accountability.
- Develop a process for identifying and developing key talent, both critical positions and high-potential talent.
- Proactively plan and execute innovative ways to develop next generation leaders.
- Partner with compensation to ensure respective communications and timelines are executed appropriately.
- Create development platforms for high-potential talent and developing and senior leaders within North America which align with long-range business strategies and objectives.
- Ensure Career ladders are developed and communicated, enabling the retention of key talent.
- Work in partnership with HR Leadership Team to build and deliver a learning platform incorporating a combination of core learning and development solutions targeted at various levels of the organization and aligned to business needs.
- Design and implement a best in class mentoring program.
- Champion Employee Engagement efforts for Ipsen North America; develop metrics to track engagement and ideas to improve engagement during rapid scaling of the business.
- Lead change management initiatives by creating awareness, understanding, buy-in, and ownership for change; apply change management process and tools to create a strategy to support adoption of change in a timely manner.
- Develop metrics and measures to determine effectiveness and business impact of talent management initiatives (e.g. training, leadership and organizational development programs).
- Improve organizational effectiveness through the development and deployment of solutions to enhance leadership, improve productivity and drive a performance culture.
- Serve as a partner to provide expert counsel on organizational design issues.
- Special projects on an ad hoc request basis.
- Manage a team of two.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or Business or equivalent required.
- Master’s degree in business, organizational behavior, HR Management or related field preferred.
Experience
- 10+ years of relevant, demonstrated & practical experience developing robust organizational development strategies that positively impact the business bottom line.
- Pharmaceutical/Biotech experience preferred but not required.

- Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, presentation) and the ability to interact with colleagues at all levels of the organization.
- Must be able to inspire, effectively coach, consult, lead and influence others.
