The Scrum Master is a facilitator who guides cross functional teams comprised of developers, QA, and a Product Owner in the execution and principles of the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe). You will act as a servant leader to the team, helping them self-organize, self-manage, and deliver via effective agile practices. You will also support and enforce the rules of agile. The Scrum Master also helps the team coordinate with other teams on the Agile Release Train (ART) and communicates status to management as needed. The Scrum Master will ensure the tracking and reporting of day-to-day activities as well as remove roadblocks and impediments.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and facilitate daily stand up meetings.
  • Schedule/facilitate sprint planning and retrospective meetings prior to the beginning of each sprint.
  • Work with Product Owner and delivery teams to groom stories in advance.
  • Communicate committed stories for the upcoming sprint to the Product Owner and stakeholders and protect the scope of those commitments.
  • Support the Product Owner and Release Train Engineer (RTE) in maintaining the release roadmap based on the health and priority of the stories of the backlog.
  • Monitor team backlog daily and ensure it accurately reflects the current state, including burndown chart and status, at the release and sprint levels.
  • Facilitate impediment resolution in a timely, cost effective manner; stay attuned to team needs and remove impediments before they form.
  • Represent the team at the Scrum of Scrums meeting to report progress against burndown.
  • Participate in Release retrospective and cross team retrospectives.
  • Facilitate meetings as part of the quarterly PI planning.
  • Understand Cotiviti’s business and obtain knowledge of the business products, goals and priorities to deliver on the technology needs.
  • Drive process improvement and keep team accountable to improvements.
  • Alert and involve appropriate management, when necessary.
  • Ensure that the definition of done is established and adhered to at all levels

Requirements

  • B.S. in Computer Science, Business, Project Management, or similar degree or equivalent.
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or immediate plans to become certified.
  • Experience with Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Understanding and support of the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
  • Proactive with strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong drive to deliver tangible value even when faced with ambiguity.
  • Strong belief in continuous improvement and team empowerment.
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and follow up communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences.
  • Proficient knowledge of at least one application lifecycle management tool; JIRA preferred.
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
