Position Description for ­­­Resource Development Director

Title: Resource Development Director

Incumbent: Open

Reports to: CEO

Supervises: Resource Development Specialist

Purpose: Plan, lead, and coordinate all aspects of fund development for Greater Muncie Habitat for Humanity. Provide leadership and direction for all fundraising initiatives including major gifts (financial and gift in kind), planned giving, grant writing, special events, donor mailings, and sponsorships.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· As a member of the leadership team, work with CEO, Board of Directors and staff to design and implement a comprehensive development plan that fulfills both short and long-range goals identified in the Strategic Plan

· Oversee, monitor and provide regular reports on annual development plan progress

· Assist in development of annual affiliate resource development plan

· Develop fundraising policies, practices and procedures

· Develop and cultivate positive relationships with donors and funding partners; participate in public speaking opportunities to raise community awareness of HFH

· Research new/increased funding avenues and opportunities for affiliate

· Prepare all grant proposals for the affiliate; includes grants submitted to foundations, national and local organizations and businesses as well as individuals

· Provide financial oversight and reporting for all grants awarded to HFH

· Lead and coordinate fundraising events; includes annual breakfast, donor open houses/events and sponsorship of events

· Lead and coordinate development of donor mailings including annual report, newsletters, Holiday mailing, etc.

· Develop/coordinate major gifts program for affiliate; includes stewardship and individual gift plan for major donors, planned giving, endowment, etc.

· Develop toolkit to support fundraising efforts; includes but not limited to promotional brochures, photos, videos, stories, PowerPoints, etc.

· Coordinate marketing/media/communications for affiliate including social media, media outlets, event press, etc.

· Supervise and oversee work of Resource Development Specialist

· Lead resource development committee

Position Qualifications and Experience:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, public relations or related field

Experience: Three to five years experience in not-for-profit development including fundraising, grant writing and donor relations. Prefer financial experience overseeing awards and grants.

Skills:

· Excellent organization skills

· Ability to self-manage and supervise the work of others

· Strong commitment to work collaborative with HFH staff members, board of directors, and community leaders

· Excellent oral and written communication skills including speech writing and public speaking

· Strong financial acumen with proficiency in spreadsheet applications

· Analytical and problem solving skills

· Strong desire to improve living conditions of low-income families in Greater Muncie, Indiana community
