Conditions of Employment
- Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
- Any individual who is currently holding, or has held within the previous 52 weeks, a General Schedule position under non-temporary appointment in the competitive or excepted service, must meet time-in-grade requirements (must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent in the Federal service).
- You may be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties. .
- You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided.
- You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work.
- If you are a new employee or supervisor in the Federal government, you will be required to complete a one-year probationary period.
- You may be required to travel overnight away from home up to 2-3 nights per month. You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes.
- You may be required to complete training and obtain/maintain a government charge card with travel and/or purchase authority.
- You will be required to complete a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450 on an annual basis.
Qualifications
EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to successfully perform the duties of this position. Examples of qualifying experience include, but are not limited to the following: management, assistant or program specialist work involving development and implementation of complex, controversial, and/or sensitive policy related to protection and conservation of park areas or similar operations; directs programs and work through direct and indirect supervision. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of at least the GS-13 grade level in the federal service. . You must include hours per week worked.You must include months, years and hours per week worked to receive credit for your work and/or volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience is equivalent to 12 months at 40 hours per week. Part-time hours are prorated. You will not receive any credit for experience that does not indicate exact hours per week or is listed as “varies”.

Physical Demands: The work is sedentary; no special physical effort or skill is required. Some walking and standing is required in going to and from meetings and conferences or in visiting park sites.
Working Conditions: The work is primarily done in an office setting. Position is duty stationed in the Southern Arizona Office in Phoenix, Arizona, but a substantial amount of work is tied to operations in the Montezuma Castle/Tuzigoot National Monuments Office in Camp Verde, Arizona, Tonto National Monument in Roosevelt, Arizona, and the Western Archeological Center Office in Tucson, Arizona. Frequent travel is expected between Phoenix, Camp Verde, Tucson, and Parks in Southern Arizona, but most often this travel can be accomplished in one day trips.

The following documents are required and must be submitted by 11:59 PM (EST) on 12/30/2019.
- Resume which includes a list of all significant jobs held and duties performed, dates specified in month and year format, and the resume must reflect either full-time or 40 hours per week. If a part-time work schedule is reflected, the hours must be annotated to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience. If military or civilian, please include your rank and/or grade.

- Merit Promotion Eligibility Documentation such as:
- Federal employees must submit a copy of their latest SF-50 “Notification of Personnel Action” that reflects career or career-conditional tenure, such as the initial hire, promotion, or reassignment, showing position title, series, grade and tenure (please do not submit an Award SF-50 unless it provides the necessary information) and, if different, an SF-50 showing highest permanent grade ever held.

This is a Career/Career-Conditional Full-Time appointment.
Travel, transportation, and relocation expenses will be paid if the selectee lives outside of the local commuting area and is otherwise eligible for reimbursement of relocation expenses in accordance with the Federal Travel Regulation.
Responsibilities
The selectee will serve as the Group Superintendent of the Southern Arizona Office (SOAR), with responsibility for all facets of operations for the Southern Arizona Office, Montezuma Castle, Tuzigoot, and Tonto National Monuments, and the administrative operations at the Western Archeological and Conservation Center. The position supervises the Superintendents of Montezuma Castle/Tuzigoot and Tonto National Monuments. Included among these sites are cliff dwellings, prehistoric pueblos, ancient artifacts, endangered and sensitive flora and fauna, a range of plant species, and curatorial museum services. In addition to these natural and cultural resources, each unit has a Visitor Center, maintenance facilities, employee residences, utility systems, and support facilities. The position is responsible for guiding park managers and their efforts, establishing goals, setting priorities, allocating resources, setting standards, and maintaining an efficient operation. The position also serves as the Facilities Branch Chief (includes supervision of the Regional Asset Manager) for the Arizona Parks, which includes a range of facility and infrastructure responsibilities, including the development and oversight of projects and project managers, for parks throughout the state of Arizona . The position also serves as the and the Arizona State Coordinator. The office serves as a hub for all southern Arizona National Park Service units, providing facilities, project development, facility investment planning, management, and resource management support, which include Casa Grande Ruins National Monument, Chiricahua National Monument, Coronado National Memorial, Montezuma Castle National Monument, Tuzigoot National Monument, Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument, Saguaro National Park, Tonto National Monument, Tumacacori National Historical Park, Fort Bowie National Historic Site, and the Western Archeological and Conservation Center.
