Head of Applications Services

Ariel Re is looking for a talented Head of Application Services, Reinsurance to join our team.

The Head of Application Services, Reinsurance is responsible for the design, development, maintenance and management of the application and information architecture. This position will support the Reinsurance application landscape including Financial and Operational reporting.

This dynamic role requires a multi-tasking, detail orientated, technically experienced individual who is able to contribute significantly towards the various enhancement initiatives being undertaken, while being broadly cross-trained across all activities within the Reinsurance operations.

Key Accountabilities

• Own application development, maintenance and growth of all reinsurance systems, management information and financial reporting, including the analytical review of underwriting data, general ledger inputs and performance metrics for leadership
• Assist in development of technical data flow documentation to satisfy operational compliance requirements
• Co-ordinate and develop testing scripts with all departments for system upgrades and execution
• Assist in the evolution of applications to support Reinsurance process flows
• Own applications and data for periodic Lloyds submissions and BMA reporting
• Function as external and internal liaison with auditors to facilitate queries and ensure compliance with SOX control framework
• Other duties as required

Role Requirements / Qualifications / Skills / Competencies

• Recent Xuber policy administration system experience
• Recent GIT and TFS (Team Foundation Server) experience
• 10 years’ experience programming in SQL stored procedure in Microsoft SQL server dialect
• 10 years’ recent experience in the Lloyd’s of London market including required submissions and messaging sub-systems
• Reinsurance accounting experience (processing of proportional, non-proportional, assumed and ceded business) and exposure to reinsurance systems and general ledger systems
• Familiarity with operational functions and relevant applications support
• Experience with Azure DevOps and detailed technical knowledge of Agile project management concepts, especially scrum and Kanban
• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite of applications
• Excellent verbal and written communication in English
• Flexibility to work non-traditional office hours as needed
