GENERAL PURPOSE:

Value stream map the current Sourcing and Logistics model in Serta-Simmons to identify and capture Supply Chain efficiencies. Partner with key resources in Sourcing and Logistics to drive Kaizen activity reducing cost and leadtime while supporting Manufacturing Operations. Establish Supplier Partner relationships and drive Continuous Improvement within key suppliers in the Serta-Simmons network.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop a current state and future state map of the Serta-Simmmons Sourcing and Logistics network and outline a Kaizen plan to drive rapid efficiencies
  • Conduct frequent Continuous Improvement events with Supplier Partners to reduce cost and lead-time throughout the network
  • Reduce cost and lead time within Logistics routes, partnering with Logistics and Manufacturing groups
  • Develop Kanban visual management in Manufacturing Plants partnering with the Materials Management Group and local Plant Mgmt
  • Analyze and execute projects to achieve best total cost to manufacture and distribute throughout the U.S.
  • Conduct distribution and network studies, partnering with the Materials Mgmt Group to monitor inventory and analyze requirements in order to achieve desired delivery lead times
  • Provide support for distribution center activities, including working directly with the internal and external customer group on inventory controls, facility layout, facility flow, process flow and related data analysis
  • Effectively use logistics modeling tools to design warehouse, transportation, network, and supply chain solutions
  • Develop policies, guidelines, and standard procedures to ensure consistently high levels of safety, quality, and productivity


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred
  • 5-10 years related experience
  • Extensive knowledge of Lean tools, Kaizen facilitation, Kanban and visual inventory controls, MRP, SAP, Logistics support software/IT packages and programs, inventory control software, simulation modeling
  • APICs, Project Management, Logistics, Six Sigma Training
  • Strong analysis and system modeling skills
  • Estimated 60% travel
