With 5 regions throughout the state, this position functions as the Deputy Director of Operations for the Southeast Region with a headquarters in Waukesha. This position is critical to advancing programs and objectives that ensure the citizens of Wisconsin are provided with the best transportation service possible.

Position Summary:

Working closely with the Southeast Region Director, this position manages the Region’s programs and services (which includes a significant number of transportation related programs such as transportation improvement projects, highway maintenance, traffic, program controls as well as real estate, environmental and surveying). The Deputy Director of Operations oversees region goals and performance standards, establishes and maintains working relationships with internal/external stakeholders, is involved in recruitment/personnel matters and develops and implements process improvement measures. This position is part of the senior management team and is involved in high level decisions impacting the department and the region.

RELOCATION INCENTIVE: The Compensation Plan permits granting a one-time Relocation Incentive Award to employees who relocate as a result of promotion or transfer and expense reimbursement in any dollar increment up to an amount equal to 125% of the monthly minimum for this position in the pay plan. Moving expenses may also be awarded to the selected candidates.

Qualifications:

    Minimally qualified candidates will have experience in all of the areas listed below:

  • Supervising/managing staff, including broad scope of management duties such as allocating resources, reviewing/assigning work, leading/motivating staff, etc. (must include a minimum of 3 years of supervisory/management experience).
  • Managing large programs/projects related to the transportation industry, which may include impacts to multiple program areas, involves stakeholder impacts and/or involves very public profile issues.
  • Managing multiple program areas.
