Position Value Proposition
This position is responsible for directing the accounting functions of GrayWolf owned by DBM Global, by maintaining best practice accounting principles, procedures, and policies. This position will oversee the preparation of internal financial and accounting reports for senior management and the executive team. This position will be the liaison between GrayWolf and DBMG finance team and will be responsible for ensuring that all information provided is accurate and in compliance with accounting principles and Company policies and procedures.
Core Responsibilities
- Oversee the company’s fiscal activity, including budgeting, reporting and auditing.
- Align the parent requirements to the best business practices for the company.
- Assist with high-level decisions about policy and strategy.
- Identify and address financial risks and opportunities for the company.
- Work in a SOX-compliant environment and maintain controls surrounding the key processes impacting operations. Ensure key controls are maintained with minimal business impact
- Recommend ways to push business results by “unconventional” means that are legal, ethical and moral.
- Maximizing company’s positive cash flow by modeling cash flow per project (intake), managing payables, collections, and terms arrangements on PO’s and controls, ensuring hit capital working capital is accurate.
- Manage/oversee all out of budget and all discretionary spending as well as over budget job spending (authority matrix). Ensuring the number of non-approved requisitions requiring approval are minimal.
- Ensure accounting team is preparing financial information monthly/quarterly/annually using approved company financial reporting tools and in compliance with accounting principles and Company policies and procedures.
- Auto-flag reporting on project controls
- KPI earn vs. burn – variance report
- CMI – performance measures
- Proactively monitoring jobs that are experiencing “exceptions” as it relates to labor shortages, turn over, late deliveries, safety, CIE underbilling, pending change orders in order to identify possible “root cause” to address with P&L Leader (General Managers).
- Ensure jobs meet or exceed budget margin (is as-bid or better), while providing weekly controls and financial metrics that are accurate and timely.
- Agility and ability to “stand-in” when needed to provide guidance to Estimating, Project Management, HR and IT
- Collaborate with operational leaders and stakeholders to ensure the accuracy of key business performance data that drives business reporting and deliver business results.
- Demonstrate the ability to understand and actionize the reporting results to drive business improvements.
- Through Servant Leadership, develop team work and collaboration within the finance and accounting teams. Effectively managing, developing and train the team members to create and sustain a high performing team. Ensure team members understand and administer the required business acumen for their role.
- Establish Departmental goals and objectives that support company initiatives.
- Maintain current knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, current knowledge of US GAAP.

Education/Training
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting. MBA & CPA is highly preferred. Ongoing or Continuing Education in Finance and/or Accounting workshops or seminars is desirable.
Work Experience
- Ten (10) years related experience in a professional senior accounting role within the construction/heavy manufacturing industry. Must have at least 5 years of finance/accounting management experience working in a multi-state company environment. At least five (5) years of the required experience must also be in the role of a Controller with supervisory experience. Supervisory experience should entail the management of exempt level employees in multiple locations. Ability to organize, train, direct, and develop personnel, and to plan and coordinate timely accomplishments of responsibilities.
- Knowledge and understanding of management requirements, financial procedures, and generally accepted accounting principles.
- Understanding of data process capabilities and operations as it relates to accounting, financial control and business functions.
- Strong written and verbal presentation skills.
- Ability to interact and communicate with individuals in various functional areas and various levels of management.
- Proficient in PC application and system knowledge, database query experience required.
- Ability to manage and promote through a vision and guiding principles
- Strong desire to drive for results in a fast-growing environment.
Specialized Knowledge
As outlined in the Core Competencies, an individual must have thorough knowledge and an advanced understanding of each competency outlined above in order to carry out the essential functions of this position. Specialized Knowledge is also required in the following areas:
- Knowledge of GAAP, IFIRS and SOX.
- In-depth knowledge of construction accounting (Percentage of Completion) preferred.
- In-depth cost accounting knowledge may be acceptable substitute.
- In-depth understanding of internal controls and segregation of duties.
- Accounting software experience.
- Budgeting/Planning software experience (Host Analytics or similar).
- Expert-level Excel skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Multi-language capabilities, spoken and written, greatly preferred
- Accounts Payable (Processing invoices, payment processing, payable issue resolution, invoice issue resolution, vendor relations, unusual payment management, and expense reporting/processing).
- Accounts Receivable (Cash receipts processing, collections, sales invoice issue resolution, bill back resolution, customer relations, reporting).
- Taxes (Sales taxes, income taxes, property taxes, other taxes, government surveys)
- Systems (Procedure/system design, procedure documentation, compliance)
- Insurance (property & casualty management, auto liability management, product liability management, workers’ compensation management, directors and officers liability management, business interruption management)
- General Ledger (Balance sheet management, account reconciliation, month end closings)
- Financial Reporting (Monthly financial results – organization, Leadership Team, Board, and external, daily/weekly reporting, business education)
- Fixed Assets (Asset tracking, CEA tracking, deprecation records)
Software & Technology
Position will require the frequent use and knowledge of MS Windows 7 and/or MS Windows 10, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Asses and MS Outlook. Concur, Kronos TKS or comparable TKS, ERP system software (MS Dynamics AX or Sage 300 or applicable software), CPM software (i.e. Host Analytics, IBM Cognos, Hyperion, Clarity, etc.).
Work Environment
Position requires as many hours needed to fulfill the daily and weekly obligations required to carry out the functions. Working long days including evenings and weekends will be required for this position – specifically for month-end, quarter-end and year-end periods.
