CPI is looking for three dedicated individuals to go through our Manager Trainee Program. This program is designed to prepare great leaders to run grain and/or agronomy facilities at our coop.


Job Description Summary

Support CPI’s Vision, Mission, and Core Values. Assist Location / Area Manager in Grain and Agronomy production and distribution operations for the location in a manner that will optimize CPI’s market share and savings, improve efficiency, resulting in outstanding customer service. Ensures compliance with CPI policies, regulations, procedures, and practices including all local, state, and federal laws.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide a positive attitude to customers and peers through providing outstanding and courteous customer service.
  • Follow the safety guidelines and safety programs established by CPI and complete safety reports and required records.
  • Assist Manager in compliance and employee training at the location regarding governmental regulations and safety.
  • Assist Manager in maintaining all records required by OSHA or CPI’s safety procedures, as well as training of staff, and recording of documentation utilizing the designated software platform.
  • Assist Manager in budgeting and Fixed Asset requests, and operational expenses for the location.
  • Master working knowledge of CPI’s internal computer systems that affect day to day operations.
  • Promote and support CPI’s Grain, Agronomy, Feed, and Energy programs at the location.
  • Responsible for the coordination and direction of project crews and the completion of projects.
  • Responsible for leading daily housekeeping, maintaining a safe clean environment for employees and customers.
  • Assist Manager in monitoring inventory quality/condition and completing weekly inventory reports.
  • Provide customers a cash grain bid and explain basic grain contracts as well as entering grain offers in designated software.
  • Ability to explain company policies and site operations to customers and employees as needed.
  • Recommend repairs and improvements to the Location Manager / Area Manager.
  • Responsible for personnel training, maintaining that records are current and tasks are performed properly and safely.
  • Proactively reach out to customers and develop positive customer relationships.
  • Adhere to the credit guidelines of CPI.
  • Assist in planning, developing and implementing CPI policies and goals.
  • Develop and maintain an atmosphere of teamwork among location and company staff.
  • Inform the Location Manager / Area Manager of operational, customer, vendor, or employee issues that may arise.

Supervisory Responsibility

At times may be asked to assist Location Manager / Area Manager in supervising employees at the location. Adheres to supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the CPI’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


Education and Qualifications

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and three years related experience, or a minimum of four years or more related experience and/or training with agricultural commodities and material handling equipment. An Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree is a plus. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Valid Driver’s License and Class A CDL with Tanker, Doubles, and HazMat Endorsements (Recommended)

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts: fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places: outside weather conditions: extreme cold and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
