Chevron Gas Station manager will be responsible all areas of operation, including cashiering, bookkeeping, deli operations, and general maintenance. Store Manager will plan, organize, direct, and control the daily operation of the gas station in a profitable manner. The Store Manager is expected to promote the business, mange employee turnover at an acceptable rate, maintain appropriate level of staff, operate inside of assigned budgets and maintain expected levels of productivity and sales volume. Create and maintain a positive customer service atmosphere.

The Duties and Responsibilities Are

A. General Management

Performs specific tasks as assigned by the District Manager.

Post and manage work schedules within budgeted guidelines.

Maintain a positive work environment, monitor and motivate employees, ensure quality customer service is provided to all customers.

Daily fuel price surveys of local competitors, monthly store price surveys.

Plan, direct and evaluate the operations of the gas station.

Manage staff and assign duties. Ensure all daily operational duties are completed satisfactorily.

Store Condition

  • Maintain a clean and orderly sales floor, clean and full deli and beverage counters, clean bathrooms and clean forecourt/fueling area at all times.
  • Rotate stock, first in, first out, check product sell by dates and return or waste out as appropriate.
  • Pass supervisory and branded image audits within acceptable levels

Sales Volume:

  • Monitor product movement to reduce excessive on hand inventory and minimal out of stock items
  • Ensure accurately posted prices and fully stocked and fronted shelves
  • Maintain sales volume in line with budgeted expectations

Promote and execute customer incentive programs.

Resolve customer complaints.

Regularly pass BARS checks at acceptable level and properly train staff on Tobacco and Alcohol Sales procedures.

Enforce all company, local, state and federal policies and procedures.

Assist in developing and implementing marketing strategies.

B. Personnel

Recruit, hire, train, and develop store employees including an assistant manager, full/part time cashiers, and a deli manager in food service locations. Ensure all employees receive appropriate training in all areas of the store.

Conduct regular performance reviews, ongoing training and documenting progressive discipline as needed.

Schedule regular staff meetings.

Review and manage time punches and approve time cards, submit bi-weekly payroll on time to Payroll Manager.

Responsible for alerting the District Manager to personnel situations or policy violations that may have an adverse effect on the stores operating performance.

Manage personal overtime within guidelines. The budgeted allowance of overtime for Store Managers is 5 hours per week.

C. Security

Protecting company assets at all times.

follow proper cash control policies.

Manage and reduce shrink by adhering to company policies, proper check in of vendors, clean and organized sales floor and back room areas, properly record waste and damaged goods and process returns according to policy.

Loss prevention and control, review sales journals, trend sheets, consumption logs, cash over/shorts, drive offs.

Report security concerns to District Manager whenever a situation occurs

Be able to react to a fire by lifting a fire extinguisher weighing 25 pounds and moving it to the fire area.

Maintain a safe and secure work area and prevent potential injury by following company policies on safety.

D. The Requirements for the Job

Be able to perform arithmetical calculations at the eighth-grade level and account for numbers of variety of products during vendor check-in.

Have sufficient visual acuity to operate handheld devices.

Be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds for short distances.

Be able to stand, bend, kneel, and reach for up to 10 hours.

Be able to tolerate normal exposure to gasoline fumes and cleaning products.

Be able to work around hot ovens and in deli areas occasionally warmer than average room temp.

Be able to enter and work in a cooler at a temperature of 38 degrees up to 60 minutes at a time.
