The Vice President of Program Services plays a critical role delivering Iron Bow’s world-class services to government, healthcare, and commercial clients. This position partners with the Chief Operating Officer and other senior leaders to deliver the overall strategy for all facets of our long-term service delivery contracts, or what we call Program Services. We are seeking a proven operations leader who will help us not only execute, but also evolve our internal and customer facing processes as a competitive differentiator.

Because Program Services balances both tactical and strategic activities, you must be adept technically, strong operationally and financially, collaborative in nature, and skilled at project management. You must be able to communicate effectively and persuasively so that your programs:

  • Operate profitably.
  • Meet minimum contractual Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Sustain personnel support levels sufficient to meet client objectives.
  • Earn exceptional client satisfaction scores
  • Grow organically and strategically.

You will lead and inspire a distributed team of senior staff who are responsible for managing a combined portfolio of 11 program services contracts with roughly 215 full-time employees as well as dozens of subcontractor personnel. You will build trust—both internally and externally—by leveraging your real-world experience and knowledge of industry best-practices to identify and resolve complex issues before they impact performance. You will also evaluate the success of Iron Bow’s customer service delivery, service initiatives, and tools on a regular basis, and establish goals for continual improvement. While certain aspects of the position require very structured approaches, other areas will benefit from your creative, out-of-the-box thinking.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Vice President of Program Services will operate in a highly matrixed environment and work closely with senior leaders within Iron Bow, with our subcontractors, and with our customers.

  • Develop and direct the execution of an operating strategy with continual delivery of activities, decisions, and results for predictive, iterative, and incremental professional client delivery standards.
  • Apply lean principles to derive value creation and identify efficiency opportunities. Develop models to capture these opportunities while ensuring the organization maintains focus on the customer.
  • Monitor group goals and achieve business results.
  • Manage an annual business plan and strategy that meets the financial objectives consistent with Iron Bow’s strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborate across the organization to develop best practices and standard processes that are effective and allow teams to operate efficiently and with appropriate governance controls.
  • Partner with sales teams to support capture and bid activities for new and existing programs that provide the business an opportunity to grow revenue.

  • Ability to effectively select, develop, coach, empower and motivate staff to ensure growth in their scope of responsibility and accountability for operational excellence.
  • Ability to lead change and establish operational metrics/key indicators for process control, communication, and performance improvement.
  • Approach business challenges from a macro perspective and resolve strategic issues effectively.
  • Ability not only to communicate clearly with an understanding of your audience, but also to present ideas and gain commitments that are crucial to the success of the business.
  • Knowledge and ability to develop and/or interpret operating plans and budgets.
  • Ability to manage multiple, complex projects and changing priorities, work extended hours when required, make sound decisions under pressure, and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Exceptional working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

Education, Experience, and Certifications

  • Requires minimum BA/BS in Business or other relevant field. MBA is preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in operations, finance, and/or sales leadership.
  • 10+ years of applicable leadership/people management experience.
  • 3+ years of consultative IT services selling.
  • Strong preference for PMP and ITIL certifications.

Travel Requirements

This position is based in the greater Washington, D.C. metropolitan area and will require 30% travel.
