The Vice President of Operations will be responsible for planning, organizing, and directing hospital operations, select ancillary departments and support services. This position will oversee designated areas of responsibility and monitor productivity and overall effectiveness. The VP of Operations reports to the Chief Operating Officer of Reading Hospital and assists in developing and implementing the strategic long and short-range plans in alignment with Reading Hospital. The VP of Operations will be responsible for a broad range of operations issues including quality, patient access and experience, growth, budgeting, policy making and general administration. He/she will be responsible for the administrative direction of those departments reporting directly to this position. The VP of Operations will facilitate, measure, evaluate, and interpret care needs of patients and performance of staff while directing activities accordingly and meeting the directives established by the Reading Hospital COO.
The VP of Operations ensures all actions taken and methods used are consistent with and promotes Reading Hospital’s mission, vision, and values.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provides the leadership and oversight of the day to day operations of Reading Hospitalâs ancillary and support departments, process improvement, productivity, budget management and quality management under the direction of the Reading Hospital COO to ensure clinical quality and patient experience is optimized while cost effectiveness and financial vitality are maintained and enhanced.
- Assists the Reading Hospital COO in the development of a Reading Hospital operational and business plan (short-term and long-term tactics) supporting the Tower Health System plan.
- Partners with Reading Hospital COO, VP of Finance & VP of Patient Care Services to build and oversee operational budget and ensure practices and hospital departments manage within budgetary guidelines.
- Ensures plans are developed and executed to meet key system indicators, goals, and metrics, including quality, safety, service, financial and engagement performance.
- Identifies, recommends, and implements practice and hospital needs: staffing, services, equipment, other capital.
- Drives toward a patient centric and engaging culture for physicians and employees.
- Collaborate with system leaders for input, buy-in, and support on access, staffing, supply chain, capacity, and other matters to ensure high quality patient care, financial sustainability and meeting determined targets.
- Provides leadership to improve management effectiveness by creating and sustaining an environment of trust, ensuring ongoing and relevant communications with employees, creating opportunities for employees to contribute to improvement initiatives, and connecting how employee’s work at all levels contributes to the patient experience. Conducts regular direct report meetings to discuss goals, accomplishments and strategies.

- Assists Reading Hospital in maintaining positive community relations and serves as liaison with other staff and the public.
- Determines economic aspects of equipment, facility, and new service decisions for areas of responsibility.
- Develops and sustains a talented, diverse, and action-oriented operations team recognized for responsiveness, innovation, and outstanding performance.
- Management meetings: contribute to decision-making, establishes agenda in consultation with Reading Hospital Leadership. Resolves operational problems and keeps lines of communication open with staff to ensure high productivity.

5-7 Years leadership experience
Prior experience in healthcare environment strongly preferred
