Easterseals DC MD VA is seeking a highly motivated and polished applicant for their Vice President of Development position. Become a senior member of the Easterseals team to lead all Development activities; apply a metrics-based approach to fundraising. Lead all aspects from individuals, foundations, and corporations, including major gifts, annual support, events, corporate giving, campaigns, and capital giving. The role requires a proven record with 7+ years in fundraising and 3+ years’ management experience.

Responsibilities:

  • With the leadership team, execute a 3-year plan to grow fundraising and raise philanthropic funds.
  • Develop the long-term strategy for growth. Plan future comprehensive campaign building upon successful $42 million, 6-year All Thrive Campaign completed in Dec 2018.
  • Lead the Development team and ensure all key activities are performed, measured, and monitored.
  • Use dashboards to summarize activity and progress effectively for senior management and the Board.
  • Identify, cultivate, and solicit 50+ prospective donors annually with 10+ personal visits monthly
  • Coach and mentor the Development staff to improve their skills plus increase their performance & engagement.
  • Use a donor-centered fundraising approach with a strong drive for results:
  • Major gifts: Assist work of CEO, CGO, and Board. Clearly articulate expected actions, and provide appropriate guidance, support, and follow up
  • Corporate revenue: oversee implementation of a robust corporate partnerships / volunteerism program
  • Grants revenue: oversee identification and cultivation of foundation prospects, submissions, and reporting
  • Events revenue: oversee events program
  • Manage a pool of prospects and build relationships, for frontline, externally-facing fundraising.
  • Develop a stewardship program to cultivate deeper ties with all donors
  • Run pipeline meetings, and hold individual staff accountable to their activity and revenue goals
  • Be a liaison to the Board’s Development Committee, to engage them + report on fundraising activity
  • Develop strategy for the future of the Development Department, plan future campaigns that meet the mission.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of fundraising experience and 3+ years of management experience
  • Proven track record in cultivating and closing major gifts
  • Passion for the Easterseals mission
  • Excellent communications skills (written and oral). Proven ability to motivate staff and volunteers
  • Demonstrated strategic leadership. Experience overseeing & tracking budgets
  • Strong business acumen and operating skills: organizing, planning, delegation and team development
  • Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends (e.g., special events or other programs)
  • Expert at time management and bias toward action
  • US Veteran, National Guardsman, Reservist or military spouse preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent military service experience preferred
  • Experience leading a successful campaign from start to finish preferred
  • Experience with software to track and measure performance (e.g. Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce, etc.) preferred
