Project manager position with a Tysons, VA firm specializing in government operations. The Engineering/Technical Data PM will lead multiple projects evaluating and improving digital technical data content and formats used for procurement and maintenance support to weapons and other complex systems. The position requires the application of an in-depth understanding of technical data specifications and data package components, drawings, parts lists, testing methods, and demonstrated program management expertise in challenging and demanding work environments.

]Responsibilities:

The PM will be responsible for managing the budget, day-to-day operations, milestones and staff for a high paced R&D team. The PM position is a demanding, multi-faceted job requiring the skills of an experienced leader, manager, business developer, and subject matter expert skilled in both project management and technical expertise.

Key responsibilities include:

Leadership: Lead and mentor a group of talented consultants and analysts with varying levels of experience and background; build capacity of staff to advance development in a way that aligns to the firm’s strategic plan; mentor junior staff, and participate in corporate initiatives as needed/requested. Demonstrated experience in clear communication with clients, and the ability to bridge qualitative requirements into technical descriptions and strategy for the technical staff.

Project Delivery: Operate within high-pressure work environment, leading the delivery of high quality deliverables, on time and within budget, while establishing project efficiencies and managing key client relationships to ensure client satisfaction. Drive efficiencies in execution of a firm fixed price contract while maintaining a high level of performance.

Administration: Comply with all administrative corporate reporting and compliance requirements.

Technical:
  • Lead project teams analyzing use, content, and format of digital model based (3D) technical data for life cycle support of weapon systems, particularly operations and sustainment.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on technical data creation, exchange, and maintenance, with a focus on 3-dimensional (3D) models and other digital data. Focus is on technical data for physical parts design, manufacture, sustainment, and disposition.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or higher in mechanical engineering or a related field required.
  • 5+ years’ experience involving use of CAD/CAM software. Demonstrated experience sharing data across organizations for collaborative supply chain design, manufacture, and product support.
  • Demonstrated experience of 10+ years managing people and technical projects
  • Demonstrated command of the core principles of effective management and leadership, including the ability to effectively prioritize, delegate, and manage competing priorities and a multitude of ongoing administrative, client delivery, and business development-related tasks.
  • Superior communication skills, both oral and written.Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification required.
  • Current U.S. Government security clearance, or ability to obtain one, is required. Please note only U.S. citizens are eligible for security clearances.
  • Available for occasional travel.
