Supply Chain Manager

Purpose and Scope of Job:

The Supply Chain Manager is a key role with the company, responsible for the development and management of the Procurement, Inventory Management and Logistics strategies. The ideal candidate will have the ability to provide customer service to support these activities and provide leadership to increase value by driving efficiencies in the above processes. This position reports to the Director of Manufacturing.

Essential Functions (other duties may be assigned):

· Manage a materials procurement system that results in timely material availability within pricing, service and quality guidelines in order to support Manufacturing Operations

· Guide Supply Chain Team in the appropriate handling of supplier issues, supply, demand, material lead times, inventory management, and support of manufacturing

· Coordinate purchasing activities with engineering and manufacturing departments to maintain inventories at planned levels

· Manage weekly backlog report and backlog meeting. Continually develop and automate report to gain efficiency and real-time information

· Support various organizations in the company in cost-reduction activities, supplier technical manufacturing capability discussions

· Establish metrics and cost-delivery improvement plans

· Maintain policies, procedures as well as material control systems to reduce costs, streamline procedures implement solutions

· Coordinate with Finance/Accounting on matters involving inventory carrying costs

· Evaluate personnel to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the function

· Ensure inventory transactions occur in a timely and highly accurate manner

· Ensure database is updated with accurate lead-time, pricing supplier cross-reference information

· Coordinate and oversee company’s bi-annual physical inventory counts and periodic cycle counts

· Ability to make timely decisions in a constantly changing and fast-paced manufacturing environment

· Effectively communicate with both Supply Chain Team and cross functional teams. Provide clear and timely feedback on all matters

· Manage Inventory and Shipping teams to support on-time delivery target of >95%

· Audit and monitor supplier performance, quality, and pricing

Minimum Qualifications:

Including, but not limited to the following:

  • Four-year degree preferred. Combination of education and experience will be considered
  • Five (5) years of experience in supply chain/procurement functions in a manufacturing environment. (2) years management experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of lean manufacturing practices, bills of material, supplier management and price negotiation strategy
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in MS Excel
  • Experience with Inventory Control and Just-in-Time (JIT) inventory
  • Expertise in Materials Requirement Planning (MRP)
  • Proven ability to manage Kanban systems, safety stocks, and point-of-use (POU) inventory deployment
