A ROLE YOU WILL LOVE
The Sr Scrum Master role will be front-and-center in our Agile development process. Beyond leading scrum team(s), this agility expert will provide ongoing coaching to improve other Scrum Masters and teams, as well as the larger organizations agile maturity. Acting as an Agile coach they will be responsible for making sure the team(s) pragmatically follow the rules and principles that govern Scrum. They will wear many hats in this role including being a motivational speaker, coach, driver, obstacle mover, progress monitor and doing whatever it takes to resolve issues that may arise throughout the course of development. All of this while working closely with the Product Owner and Product Manager as part of one or more scrum teams.
Primary Accountabilities
Coach and lead teams and wider organization in agile principles & agile maturity

The Sr Scrum Master is required to remain current with certifications, applications of agile and improvement of Scrum teams and the larger organizations agile maturity in alignment with the evolution of agile in the industry

Steward the team’s use of Scrum, making sure they pragmatically follow the theory, practices and rules, helping them to perform at their highest level
-
Coach other Agile Scrum Masters to improve both their own and other’s knowledge and skills, and disseminate best practices across the organization
-
Facilitate Scrum events and discussions, ensuring conditions are conducive to cooperation and communication, enforce time boxes to retain focus and clarity
-
Seek and integrate feedback on the agile processes and product development to adapt plans and scope to keep the sprint/project in alignment with business needs and optimize the cost-effective delivery of value
-
Uphold and demonstrate the Scrum values of Focus, Courage, Openness, Commitment and Respect
Lead Agile Scrum teams in developing and meeting their objectives:
-
Responsible for coaching the team to ensure that all understand and execute Scrum theory, practices, rules and values
-
Develop the team to become self-organizing, cross functional and a trusting team environment
-
Ensure that product domain, goals and scope are fully understood by all on the Scrum team
-
Identify, monitor and manage risks to the sprint with the Product Owner and Product Manager, assigning sufficient resources and time to address risks
-
Oversee the delivery of Business Value and Product Quality to ensure that the product increments created, are ‘fit for purpose’
-
Help resolve impediments keeping the team from performing, especially those arising outside the team
-
Protect the team from external interference and interruptions
-
Ensure the Product Owner and Business are talking to the team regularly and reviewing the features being delivered
-
Make sure the capacity of the team is transparent, so they do not get overloaded and can operate at a sustainable pace
-
Capture and present empirical data to identify trends, project end-dates and adjust forecasts
-
Forecast resource needs (staff and material), identify and book the necessary resources, adjusting as required throughout the sprint
Communication & Stakeholder Management:
-
Interact with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Leads, other Agile Coaches and Project Managers for other teams, where there is a need to coordinate and collaborate on delivery for common objectives and dependencies

Continually assess stakeholder needs, adapt and maximize informal and formal channels of communication as required
-
Work with the Product Owner to create, communicate and keep up to date the release plan, and ensure that it is in alignment with the sprint plans
-
Monitor and report sprint performance for governance and stakeholder needs
-
Assist the Product Owner in setting realistic priorities and expectations of the product under development, during the product backlog grooming process

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience
Required:
-
Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
-
Formal training in Agile fundamentals and the Scrum framework (i.e. First level Scrum Master certification (CSM, PSM I))
-
3-5 years of experience as a Scrum Master for a software development team, applying Scrum principles, practices and theory
-
1+ years of experience as an Agile coach leading Scrum Masters and Scrum teams through an Agile transformation
Preferred:
-
Has worked within multiple agile environments including hands on experience with practices such as XP, Scrum, Kanban, Lean etc
-
Is experienced with the challenges of scaling agile frameworks across multiple teams, locations, products or technologies
-
Working experience with an organization’s Agile transformation
-
3 – 5 years of varied experience in Information Technology – can demonstrate experience with a variety of different products / applications through the complete application lifecycle
-
Loan servicing or mortgage lending experience
-
In-depth experience with the development lifecycle and software development methodologies
-
Demonstrated experience working with business users and Product Owners to gather and document meaningful user stories
-
Demonstrated experience understanding unit testing, QA testing and user acceptance testing
-
Demonstrated experience understanding MSWord, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint
-
Demonstrated experience managing client expectations, implementing service improvement initiatives and communicating effectively with senior management
-
Demonstrated experience with technical design, reviews and leadership for the design and implementation of enterprise applications
-
Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Advanced Certified Scrum Master (ACSM), Certified Scrum Professional (CSP), Certified Team Coach (CTC) or Certified Enterprise Coach (CEC) is a plus
Travel Required
It is expected that this position may include travel up to 10% of the time. This is subject to change based on many factors, including business needs.
Language Ability
Ability to read/analyze/interpret business periodicals/ journals/technical procedures/gov. regulations; write reports/business correspondence/procedure manuals; effectively present information/respond to questions from managers/clients/customers/public
Mathematical Ability
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, fundamentals of plane, and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
