Job Summary

The Senior Advisor to the Chief Executive Officer is responsible for leading the development, implementation and review of various initiatives, providing project management, research and policy oversight. The Senior Advisor will help shape and lead day-to-day operations and execution of the Authority’s strategic goals and priorities.

$84,226 – $105,283

]Responsibilities:


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leads research activities and efforts on behalf of the CEO and Board Chairman on a variety of matters, and manages special projects.
  • Oversees the tracking and monitoringof projects, action items, and strategies that stem from the CEO and Board Chairman.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with stakeholders, including relevant governmental agencies, and private/nonprofit partners, on behalf of the CEO.
  • Oversees coordination of various tasks for the CEO, such as information requests, and other sensitive or confidential tasks, as may be assigned.
  • Oversees the preparation of certain reports and other materials, including coordinating with other divisions across the Authority.
  • Promotes teamwork and communication to encourage an interactive, cooperative, collaborative and customer focused work environment among division, EDA staff and external customers.
  • Performs other duties, as assigned.


Required Skills and Abilities

  • A deep knowledge and understanding of economic development and programs
  • An understanding of state government
  • Project management experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; proficient in grammar, spelling and editing; and foster communications with business professionals and EDA staff
  • Ability to prioritize workload, must be highly organized, detail-oriented, handle various tasks simultaneously and work independently within limited time constraints with little or no supervision
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality and deal effectively and diplomatically with business professionals and EDA staff
  • Demonstrates respectful behavior and promotes teamwork and communication to encourage an interactive, cooperative, collaborative and customer focused work environment among division, EDA staff and external customers.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn new software packages

Qualifications:


Required Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in finance, policy, or public administration, and/or equivalent experience
  • Seven to ten years of job related experience

Advanced degree or industry specific certification may be substituted for 1 year of experience

Physical Demands

  • Minimal
  • Ability to work outside normal business hours, as needed

Travel

  • As necessary to events, meetings, businesses, etc.

Certificates and Licenses Required

  • Valid driver’s license

Position Requirements

  • Must comply with the “New Jersey First Act” which requires employees hired after September 1, 2011 to reside in New Jersey. Non-New Jersey resident employees must relocate to New Jersey within one year of their date of hire and provide proof of residency to Human Resources.
