Project Manager/ Per Diem/ Emergency Medicine

Reporting to the Director of Faculty Affairs, Brigham Health Emergency Medicine, the incumbent provides oversight of the department’s ultrasound quality assurance program.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Ultrasound quality assurance and improvement
  • Weekly review of 10% of BWH ED ultrasound studies, split 50%/50% between fellows’ and ED sonographers’ image review (some of this review can occur remotely, but some proportion should occur in person at BWH)
  • Review of fellows’ and ED sonographers’ ultrasound QA emails to faculty, physician assistants and residents
  • Attendance of 2 BWH ED ultrasound educational conferences per month (Thursday mornings)
2. Oversight of ED sonographer
  • Weekly 1-hour meetings with ED sonographer to review QA and QA-related training/feedback
  • Review and assure uploading of ultrasound studies from all BWH ED ultrasound machines
  • Discuss ultrasound machine-related issues
3. Maintain oversight of QA database


Qualifications

  • Advanced training in acquiring diagnostic images using the ultrasound modality.
  • Doctor of Medicine or similar degree preferred but not required.
SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED: (MUST be realistic, neither overstated nor understated, and related to the essential functions of the job.)

  • Knowledge of and experience with ultrasound machines and their use to acquire diagnostic images in an emergency department setting
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate feedback effectively
  • Ability to work independently and to accept responsibility for providing feedback as needed
