General Responsibilities
Plan, organize, direct, and evaluate materials activities including the identification of opportunities for operational improvements. Manage all Material functions for the flow of materials, from supplier through production to customer, ensuring maximum customer service, minimum inventory investment, minimum transportation costs and efficient plant operations. This includes managing the activities of Purchasing, Scheduling, and Shipping Receiving.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
- Plan, organize, direct, manage, and evaluate material management activities
- Direct inventory management and warehousing planning functions
- Develop and communicate material management policies and procedures
- Drive continuous improvement through involvement with Lean Manufacturing projects.
- Review measurable KPIâs (customer delivery, premium freight and inventory) and establish corrective measures for performance adherence.
- Ensure customer requirements are met on a continual basis.
- Review production schedule attainment and makes recommendations for overtime when necessary.
- Develops internal planning (transportation, run sizes, inventory balances, etc.) for new and existing product.
- Remain current with the latest material management tools and technology and procedures
- Maintain open dialogue with other management to coordinate activities and improve performance and productivity
- Responsibility for Material Planning, Customer Relations, Shipping and Receiving
- Interview, select, coach, train, manage, and appraise the performance of material management personnel, working in the most efficient manner to meet and exceed all established company goals.
- Assists in analyzing and resolving work problems.
- Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
- Consistently adhere to, and support, policies and procedures, including AS9100, and safety regulations; assist in investigating and documenting potential infractions.
- Consistently exhibit appropriate attendance habits, working the hours necessary to perform the job.
- Organize and maintain efficiency of personal work area.
- Give and accept instructions and duties in a positive manner, treating all co-workers with dignity and respect.
- Assist in maintaining Jorgensen Steel Machining & Fabrication values daily, through thoughts and actions.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
