MATERIALS MANAGER
WHEELING, IL
Our Materials Manager is responsible for the people, processes, procedures and related controls that deliver the efficient flow of material for our plant operation; from the time raw materials arrive at our facility, until the time finished goods are successfully received at our outbound distribution centers. We are seeking a hands-on leader who will be accountable for the design, documentation, implementation, audit and continuous improvement for all material handling processes, projects and related systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Executes the Plantâs safety program by being a champion for safety.
- Proactively plans and establishes labor models and related schedules that align to business needs for a two shift production operation.
- Designs, implements and maintains receiving processes, procedures and related controls that minimize dock to stock time, allowing for the timely receipt of material.
- Manages expected inbound Purchase Orders (POâs) process for the facility, alerting stakeholders to late/missing deliveries and executing corrective action as appropriate.
- Accountable for proper warehouse management procedures, including warehouse space planning needs and implementation of 5S system; owns organization of all dry, cooler, freezer and yard (trailer) locations.
- Establishes appropriate on hand target inventory levels for key raw ingredient and packaging materials to minimize disruption to production output, working closely with procurement.
- Leads plant inventory management processes, procedures and related operational controls aligning with plant controller.
SHIPPING
- Designs, implements and maintains shipping/transfer processes, procedures and related controls; including reconciliation of FG transfers.
- Executes procedures and related controls for the proper configuration, palletizing, wrapping, labeling, and loading of all finished goods for transfer to Distribution Center(s)
- Establishes checklists for outbound transfers in alignment to our SQF and internal procedures.
TRANSPORTATION
- Executes shuttle route processes, priorities and operating activity to ensure the effective utilization of labor and equipment that align to plant needs
- Oversees 3PL provider of dedicated shuttle programs.

EDUCATION OR EXPERIENCE:
- A.S, B.S. or B.A. degree in supply chain, logistics, operations management.
o APICS certifications – CPIM and/or CPSC preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in warehousing, material handling or materials supervision in a manufacturing environment
- Previous experience both using and building processes enabled by an ERP System
- Proven record of refining business processes to drive operational improvement
- Certified or the capability to be certified on various forklift applications
