The Oklahoma Tax Commission (OTC), a government agency with the State of Oklahoma, is seeking an IT Project Manager to join the Information Technology (IT) Division’s Project Management Office (PMO).
This position will have the responsibility of managing multiple IT related projects. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and facilitation skills, experience with methodologies and tools used to document project efforts, and the ability to oversee multiple projects in a governmental environment. Strong leadership skills are a must along with the ability to take ownership of project management resources and tasks. The preferred candidate will have recent “hands-on” experience in a project management capacity, demonstrating an ability to work at all levels within the organization. Duties will include project initiation, planning, execution, as well as monitoring and controlling through project completion. The position additionally will be responsible for conducting meetings, setting and managing to deadlines, communicating with project owners and resources, gathering and documenting business requirements, and keeping projects on track and within budget.
Job Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain project documentation to identify, evaluate, scope, plan, monitor, and follow up on active projects
- Maintain and update PMO Project Lists to include pending, active, closed, and on-hold projects
- Conduct and participate in meetings to perform analysis, gather requirements, and track project progress through completion
- Conduct and participate in weekly project review meetings
- Facilitate problem solving sessions
- Recognize when and determine what the appropriate corrective action is to be taken to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget and scope
- Collaborate and coordinate with resource managers and project resources
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Computer Science, or MIS preferred. Project Management or related experience may serve as partial substitute to educational requirements.
- Excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills
- The ability to oversee multiple projects
- The ability to oversee time and resources based on project needs and requirements
- Excellent interpersonal skills in order to lead, motivate, and promote team building and project progression
- Self-motivated and able to work with limited direction and supervision
- Experience with Microsoft (MS) Word, Visio and Project
Special consideration may be given for the following qualifications:
- Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
- 3+ years’ experience with project management and software development methodologies
- 3+ years management experience on multiple IT projects
