Overview:[

The Director of Distribution Operations will plan and direct the movement, distribution, and storage of materials – to include coordinating the shipment of finished products to Tyler Union’s customers while developing metrics and processes to ensure targets of 100% fulfillment and 95% OTD are achieved. This position will drive process improvements and create an engaging environment in which the team is enabled to reach its goals and objectives. Responsibilities may also include interviewing, selection and hiring; training new and existing employees; planning assigning and directing work; conducting employee performance appraisals; addressing employee performance and corrective action plans.

]Responsibilities:

  • Follow all processes and procedures associated with the Tyler Union Safety Program. Advise management of any deviations from this program.
  • Work with distribution managers and supervisors to identify initiatives to improve distribution capabilities across over 500,000 square feet of warehouse space.
  • Monitor distribution performance and quality standards across eight (8) locations employing over fifty (50) team members.
  • Manage a team of 6 – 8 direct reports for standard operating procedures, internal audits/inventories, distribution analytics, and Company-wide safety.
  • Overall responsibility for warehousing and distribution.
  • Negotiate transportation rates or services, to include recommending optimal transportation modes, routing, equipment, or frequency.
  • Provide motivational leadership and direction to all team members within Tyler Union’s distribution network to ensure achievement of safety, cost, accuracy, timeliness, and productivity objectives while enhancing teamwork.
  • Establish goals and objectives; monitor and evaluate operating performance; provide direction, judgment, leadership and technical expertise to management team to maximize efficiency.
  • Develop, communicate, and maintain measures of performance to track progress in meeting goals and objectives.
  • Analyze problems, account for variances, drive for root cause and implement improved methods and procedures; create, review and update improvement plans.
  • Work with the Sales and Operations Planning team to ensure that capacity levels are maintained to match demand in the short term and long term; participate in long-range planning and budget activities.
  • Assist in establishing annual cost reduction goals and execution of those goals to meet the company business plan.
  • Recruit, select, train, assign, schedule, coach, counsel and discipline employees.
  • Communicate customer issues with the team and devise ways of improving the customer experience, including resolving problems and complaints.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics or related field.
  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in field operations and supervision with demonstrated skills in transportation operations, warehousing, and inventory/planning management.
  • Strong team leadership and process management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detailed oriented and ability to multitask.
  • Estimated 25% travel.
