The DQ Operations Group Manager is a strategic professional who closely follows latest trends in own field, strategize and adapts them for application within own job and the business. Excellent data management, operational and data analytics acumen, strategic and communication skills required to manage data quality and controls related activities; and to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to guide, influence and convince others, in particular colleagues in other areas and occasional cross organization internal customers / partners. Accountable for significant direct business results or authoritative advice regarding the operations of the business. Necessitates a degree of responsibility over technical, operational and data control related strategies. Responsible for handling staff management issues, including resource management and allocation of work within the team/project.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and lead data quality operations key activities as part of Data Management Operations team with the Chief Data Office organization.
- Work with various groups within the organization to support data management operations key processes around integrated applications/reporting systems / data warehouses
- Responsibilities may include developing business requirements, process mapping of current and future state processes, communicating implications of new processes and facilitating the change management program to move to the new process
- Provide global functional leadership to the teams located globally and responsible in ensuring completion of expected deliverables and enforcing appropriate key controls and governance
- Manages and drives performance improvement through improved end-to-end process design and management
- Ensures that the organization is structured optimally to deliver efficient and effective solutions to business partners and customers
- Manages and drives productivity improvements and reduce non-value adding expense
- Promotes more effective use of existing tools and processes (and eliminate those that are not used or are ineffectual)
- Identifies and supports the development of new capabilities to improve over all process efficiency and integrated data exceptions
- Manages and executes strategic design and process improvement projects across Finance working with Technology, Governance and Controls focused working groups, and other support organizations
- Performs analysis to test hypotheses and size opportunities (including data gathering, modeling and synthesis of results)
- Develops and refines recommended solutions to address issues and capture opportunities.
- Presents findings/analysis and make recommendations to senior management.
- Partners with stakeholders to create and launch tactical implementation plans.
- Builds and maintains excellent relationships with internal clients and colleagues
- Develops junior team members, is responsible for the formal evaluation process for project teams, and is consistently involved in recruiting for rotational programs across the firm.
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm’s reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years relevant experience
- Problem solving skills – Candidate must demonstrate the ability to identify key issues, gather data to investigate those issues and develop actionable recommendations. Given a fact base, candidate should be able to maintain point of view in the face of resistance. Client management skills – Candidate must demonstrate the ability to closely partner with senior and line managers and other stakeholders on projects. Communications skills – Candidate must possess excellent written and oral executive-level communications skills, including the ability to quickly adjust message based on different audiences and agendas
- BA/BS or equivalent degree required, with intermediate to advance understanding of financial and regulatory reporting process and / or Data Quality stewardship related is preferred.
- Extensive experience in leading and managing large size data quality or similar operational related processes at global level is preferred.
- Demonstrated implementation and project management, leadership and execution skills.
- Outstanding written and oral communication, influencing and presentation skills â must be able to present and influence across organization level and functions.
- Aptitude to translate strategy into execution in a complex and cross-functional organization.
- A self-starter with ability to independently manage work and drive multiple deliverables concurrently.
- Knowledge of Citiâs key applications or systems used by key core businesses and related business processes and controls is preferred.
- Strong subject matter expertise regarding technology application control disciplines and technology infrastructure knowledge, with a sound understanding of the underlying data and process flows on business processes and financial services provided by Citi.
- Demonstrated capability and maturity to work in both individual, global lead and at a manager capacity and must proactively seek out ways to enhance the mission and identify new data analysis needs.
- Demonstrates experience in managing teams and managing integrated internal audit and assurance delivery within a matrix reporting environment.
- Able to set priorities and discuss experience in adapting to emergent or dynamic requirements.
- High proficiency in MS Office Products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Knowledge of SQL is preferred and a plus.
- High caliber team player with good judgment, flexibility and productivity with good track record in establishing partnership and team work.
- Quick learner, customer focused with ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced changing environment.
- Forward looking with ability to mitigate and overcome any challenging roadblocks.
- Ability to work well under pressure and manage to tight deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirements in a heavily matrix organization.
- Self-starter and with demonstrated leadership skill.
