National Steel Fabricators (NSF) is looking for a Custom Metal Fabrication Project Manager to join our technical team in the Twin Cities. In anticipation of a planned retirement, the selected candidate will receive extended training and mentoring for seamless transition. The Project Manager will be responsible cultivating and maintaining strong working relationships with industry partners for contracted work. They will seek bid requests in steel construction and ornamental metal fabrication in the upper Midwest area. Estimating labor and material costs and negotiating pricing is a big part of the job. Other duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
· Manage all facets of the project life-cycle: awareness, bidding, contracting, engineering, production, installation, billing and feedback.
· Cultivate sales to support year-round projects.
· Review of architectural and structural drawings for bidding and estimating.
· Contract evaluation pre- and post-award; understand lien rights and common conditions.
· Manage and review project and shop drawings to align with bid documents.
· Work with Drafters, engineering firms, vendors and production to ensure projects are delivered on-time with promised quality.
· Evaluate cost sheets and prepare billing for customers.
· Oversee multiple projects and customers simultaneously.
· Maintain our reputation as an excellent, knowledgeable and reliable contracting partner.
Position Requirements:
· At least ten (10) years of experience working with construction design drawings and specifications and five (5) years of project estimating and bidding.
· An engineering degree in a related field (i.e. structural, architectural) preferred, but not required; Professional Engineer (PE) designation a big plus, but not required.
· Drafting (CAD), steel fabrication and steel erection experience helpful.
· Knowledge of metal types, fabrication techniques (cutting, bending, welding, fitting), hardware and finishes.
· Experience with purchasing, sourcing and pricing of materials and component parts preferred.
· Self-starting, team-oriented and achievement motivated.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· World-class customer service, attention to detail, planning and follow-up are essential.
· Travel to production facility, customer locations, work-sites and vendors required.
