Job Description:

IT Project Manager will work as a member of the IT PMO team to manage multiple individual IT projects, which are part of an overall Corporate IT Project Portfolio. Projects could range in size from a single hospital department application to an enterprise system affecting 8+ hospitals in the Baptist Health System. The IT Project Manager will work with various Baptist Health departments and third party vendors to track/manage deliverables according to the project schedule. The Project Manager may also interface with clinical personnel and installation technicians to ensure project goals are met according to the department and or clinical needs. The Project Manager will own recording and maintaining the data needed to track all meetings and project items throughout completion of the project.

May require contract negotiation and management of software vendors, program and project implementation strategy, project planning, and oversight of vendors and project teams associated with each deployment. Incumbent may work with BH Legal to ensure that all contracts have been reviewed prior to being accepted.

This position will have indirect management responsibilities of IT support and contract staff. Requires the ability to provide direction, communicate, plan and set priorities with leadership and management staff at the system and local level.

The following is a summary of the major job functions.

  • Leads projects that are initiated from Baptist Healthcare System Support Services, Hospital Leadership, and/or any other Baptist Health Project requiring technical resources.
  • Lead or Assist in all phases of Project Implementation.
  • Responsible for execution of all projects through the Baptist Health Project Management methodology, which include the following:
    • Insures accurate and current project plans and resource estimates are available for all assigned projects.
    • Lead Project Implementation Calls and drive to successful project closure.
    • Ability to lead technical discovery calls and understand IT Hardware/Software conversations to move discussion forward and document properly.
    • Process or Assist with Purchase Orders and Budgeting of Project items.
    • Compose Gantt charts/schedules in Microsoft Project and maintain them on the corporate project server.
    • Track Project Status (in Excel / Microsoft Project Server / etc.) and report daily project status.
    • Responsible for issue escalation and resolution for assigned projects.
    • Escalate issues promptly and proactively works with stakeholders to avoid/mitigate risk with future issues.
    • Delegate tasks utilizing assigned resources of the local IS team, corporate infrastructure, application teams, etc.
    • Document all meeting data as appropriate; provide regular status reports to all team members, client, and internal management as directed by the Project Team Manager.
    • Facilitate communication among Project teams, Department Managers, Local IT, Corporate IT, Vendors and Networking.
    • Ensure proper documentation of project is completed and submitted to respective groups.
    • Ensure information is disseminated for all projects needs and issues.
    • Works with vendors, executives, staff and users to find the best technological means to meet business needs while maintaining infrastructure and process standards. ,
  • Assist in training/supporting new Project Managers.
  • Displays creative thinking and resolves problems.
  • Provides good customer relations across the enterprise including the corporate and regional levels.
  • Promotes corporate integrity through compliance with the BHS Corporate Compliance Program.

Minimum of a Bachelors’ degree and 3 years related experience or any equivalent combination of education and direct experience in Healthcare / IT Project Management.

  • 3 years’ experience assisting or leading medium or larger projects – Intermediate

Expertise with project management tools and methods; a proven track record of leading teams to successfully implement projects within scope. 3+ years’ experience preferred in IT Project Coordination or Project Management,

PMP Certification a plus.

Fluent in English – oral and written.
