Position Objective:

Leader of all Manufacturing Operations including Demand and Supply Planning, Inventory Management, and Plant Operations.

AVP of Global Operations is responsible for delivering a reliable flow of supply at a consistently high service level and competitive cost to the Uniform business. This position is responsible for the development and implementation of strategies that extract the maximum value from all global manufacturing value streams while appropriately mitigating the risks inherent in a global supply chain. The scope of this role directly impacts all AUS top line, bottom line, margins, and cash flow. This individual establishes key operational performance metrics and benchmarks which encompass national and international operations and functional areas. Leads and executes the strategy for the global sourcing operating division, and continually seeks new processes and methods to improve the flow and quality of work within the organization. Provides leadership oversight for approximately 15 operations support employees and is accountable for over $220M in annual production.

The AVP of Global Operations reports to the Vice President of Global Manufacturing and Distribution. .


Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for all demand planning and production planning functions, and on-time product delivery.
  • Analyze supply chain processes and identify opportunities to increase efficiency by automating, minimizing and offloading low value activities
  • Work closely with Sourcing and Product Development and the IT organization to develop comprehensive training programs for all major systems, processes and tools.
  • Design reporting and provide insight to enable key stakeholders with information required to manage the business.
  • Lead and execute the annual national and international planning processes.
  • Determine the requirements and provide support for the introduction of new product lines.
  • Demonstrate a high level of responsiveness to Executives and key constituents in the business including the ability to operate in a fast paced, demanding environment with an intense sense of urgency.
  • Responsible for supporting all uniform installations, nationwide.
  • Profitably manage multiple company-owned manufacturing operations in Mexico
  • Drive initiatives to enhance unit fill rates while operating in accordance with approved financial plans
  • Leverage global opportunities to enhance margins while assuring a continued commitment to global corporate social responsibility
  • Maintain a working knowledge of business trends including industry issues, cost drivers, global pricing, market conditions, and economic indicators
  • Partner with the AVP of Product Development and Sourcing in conducting regular operating reviews with all strategic suppliers covering overall supplier performance (financial, quality, delivery), technology road-maps, business growth strategies and supply market changes

Qualifications:


Knowledge/Skills and Experience:

  • Extensive experience in apparel manufacturing, demand planning and supply chain management.
  • Considerable background with company-owned manufacturing operations as well as off-shore suppliers
  • Experience leading a global supply chain operation
  • Solid understanding of technical issues and geo-political risks within the global supply chain
  • Technologically adept; ability to envision and oversee the implementation of technological solutions to enhance business performance
  • Project leadership and cross functional leadership experience
  • Ability to think, plan and implement strategically
  • Ability to influence and build consensus among executive leadership
  • Comfortable with ambiguity
  • Decisive and persuasive; drives results with a strong and compelling sense of urgency
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent analytical and negotiation skills
  • Ability to travel internationally
  • Minimum 15 years’ experience working in the apparel manufacturing profession
  • MBA preferred
