The Associate Vice President is a client-facing public relations professional who is held fully accountable for small, medium and large accounts on a daily basis and/or shares accountability on a larger account team in the agency with another Associate Vice President or Vice President. This role designates a professional from a public relations practitioner within the firm to a leader of the firm. The Associate Vice President models the behavior of an emerging leader, commanding the respect of his/her account team and all agency colleagues. The Associate Vice President serves as the central nervous system for all activity on the account with full autonomy and up to the minute knowledge of budget tracking/reconciliation, project tracking and progress, plan progress and client satisfaction. He/she is held accountable for account management, client growth and team performance. The Associate Vice President direct/leads/motivates Account Coordinators, Assistant Account Executives, Account Executives, Senior Account Executives and Account Managers. The Associate Vice President fosters excellent communication and rapport with clients. He/she may personally lead the strategic planning process for a client, and will more often than not play the lead role in client presentations and meetings.

Our ideal candidate has:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication or acceptable related field
  • 2-3 years of experience as an effective Account Manager and/or 8-10 years total of agency experience or applicable communication, marketing communication or journalism experience
  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience
  • Superior tactical writing skills, including press releases, pitch letters, media alerts, speeches, collateral copy, bylined articles, op-eds, presentations, case studies, digital content and client and/or internal emails. Writing consistently requires little to no revision after peer or manager review
  • Superior public speaking/interpersonal skills, especially for the purposes of client presentations, client meetings and new business pitches
  • Superior analytical, multi-tasking and organizational skills
  • Superior media relations and digital prowess
  • Resourcefulness and chutzpah
  • Appreciation for a fast-growing entrepreneurial climate where autonomy rules the game
  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.)
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced environment with competing deadlines
  • Excellent judgement and problem-solving skills, and the ability to make strategic, sound recommendations to clients, peers and management
  • Firm commitment to agency core values, demonstrated and adhered to in daily work
